I guess I am the last purist left in town then.
I somehow thought you say that, hector.

Reminds me of that Mourinho quote after Arsenal luckboxed a 5-4 win against spurs.
"Five-four is a hockey score, not a football score. In a three-against-three training match, if the score reaches 5-4 I send the players back to the dressing rooms as they are not defending properly. So to get a result like that in a game of 11 against 11 is disgraceful."

Interested to hear your thoughts Hector. I felt today's games took us back to a time before professionalism, a time when chancing your arm was the norm and when the great teams and great players used to score length of the field tries every other week. There is a reason that Gareth Thomas' and Phillippe Saint Andre's tries are replayed thousands of times rather than the kicking exploits of Ronan O'Gara or the hard nosed, coal faced tackling of Richard Hill and Dan Lydiate. Surely open, free flowing rugby is the purists dream?

Nothing like being on the wrong end of a 5-3.
Mind you that was probably down to the campaign.

The Everton-McManus double act is in full swing on ITV4 at the moment. In my view, the most underrated commentary partnership around. No "where's the cue ball going?" or "he's come up betwixt and between" and absolutely no "he'll be disappointed to have missed that".
They speak when they have something to say and it's almost inevitably worth listening to. McManus has terrific insight when describing shot options.
They haven't mentioned 1985 yet, either.

How could you miss out Willie's fav 'he has gone fav for the frame now' when he has been shorter than 1/3 on betfair for the frame for the last 5 shots. Good old Willie. Never been the best at punting.

Probably just the broadcasting delay, arbboy. Willie's rinsing the betfair market five shots ahead

Any love for Trump @ 13/8 with Mr Choral? Ronnie is nowhere near his best and Bingham has rather forced him to accept a 6-0 whitewash in the semi. Ronnie has looked rather embarrassed to have won. Trump won a good match against Martin Gould (from 1-5 down), having knocked out Mark Williams in another good game in his quarter.
No one's setting the world alight in this tournament. Ronnie has beaten Trump in their last two finals. All in the price, though. Think Ronnie has been flattered by his opponents this week and that might make Trump a smidge o'value.
£24 if we fancy a Sunday Snooker Sweat.
Edit: sorry, this is in the Grand Prix final in Llandudno. Now 6/4. Same argument. Given modest stake, don't see any reason to change that.

I didnt watch the Rugby, but I'm interested to hear if the Rugby guys think the high scoring was as a result of the format, or if it would have happened anyway, ie, was the game after game target setting instrumental in creating such a great day for you all??

Maybe the Wales and Ireland matches wouldn't have been too different but England's 55-35 was directly as a result of England having to play more open to beat the points target. There is no way they concede 35 points against France if all they needed was a win.

Fabulous report, Tighty, I don't know how you do it, or even find the time.
Was a wonderful day's armchair sport yesterday.
What a feat Pardew has achieved. Incredible, I'm really pleased for him, I thought he got unfairly treated at Newcastle. Now Palace are ahead of Newcastle, made up a ton of ground under Pardew.
And the Arse, 6 straight wins in the Premier League. Who'd have thought?
Liverpool v Man U today. Wonder how that will measure up against yesterday's RU for all out excitement?
I'm getting a little tired of all the theatrical play acting in football, feigning injuries, trying to get players red carded. Fingers crossed a good open game played in decent spirit.
