A Cambridgeshire man walked in to a William Hill shop this morning with a bundle of cash, trying to bet £1,000 on July being the hottest month of the year at odds of 11-10.

After several minutes, staff at the St Neots branch told him this was a 'limited market' and that he'd only be allowed to bet £50.

It wasn't all bad news for the bookmaking giants, however, with a daily profit ensured by all four FOBT's being occupied by braindead chavs, and the weather tip-off allowing them to cut the price of July to 4-5 without any meaningful liability.

A William Hill spokesman said: "Our loltraders got the price wrong and rejecting bets is something we do all the time in these circumstances. Punters need to get used to it and stfu."

Is October or November 33/1 like it was last year?

4-5 July, 5-2 June, 4 August, 10 September, 40 Oct-Dec.

Only need to look at the weather forecast and see that Wed 1 July is forecast to be hotter than any day in June to realise this is a joke book.

July should be long odds-on obv.

Rec we get whatever they'll lay at 4-5 for thread.

What is the club house leader for May/June as we speak?  What do we have to beat?  Can't imagine it is that high at all.  Why isn't August a bet at 4/1 if June is literally a million?  Is there that much difference between July and August for the hottest day of the year?  Would have made July slight fav but not that much unless we are expecting 90 degrees next week?

I think in markets like this it is worth sending a known face into a shop with a huge bet on the 'wrong' selection and refusing the bet to get them to move the 'wrong' price and drift the one we want to back.

"It’s time to get out the sunscreen as weather forecasters bring good news at last - next Tuesday, June 30, promises to be the hottest day of the year with temperatures possibly reaching a sizzling 30C."

Looks like you got the Womens World Cup right, Tighty.

Japan got the easy(ish) path to the final, and the jollies face each other in the semis.

Cheers tighty.  Even if it hits 30 degrees (86f) on 30th June surely that won't be a big enough target to hold on?

Backing July and August coupled at 1/3 is the way i am going.  Off to a hills shop in a minute.  Will report back.

so far. japan play aus tonight. should beat eng/canada if they win that and probably lose to the us/germany in the final

yesterday i thought i had got the cricket right, pitch turned, Warwickshire looked discombobulated making 137 and Lancashire lost by a run against three spinners. so i got it wrong after all

I don't know about the betting side of things when it comes to whether .. but my knowledge of whether systems (from Formula One!!) has taught me that long range (14 days+) whether forecasts are only 30% accurate because they rely on wind speed/direction simulation. This is very hard to model in the UK and makes whether prediction very tricky. Just something to consider.

Wiiiiii, I'll take whatever thread doesn't want.

Teak is about to settle up after the staking triumph, so we'll work something out.
