"Ladbrokes & Gala Coral merger to create GB's biggest high street bookmaker; 4000 shops though competition regulators could order some sold"

"With Coral merger, Ladbrokes warns of profits undershoot, sets out "urgent, overdue + essential" marketing push for more digital betting"

Its as if the internet has only just been invented

Hope they keep more of the lolbrokes traders than coral as they make more ricks.  Assume there will only be one set of prices now from the merger?  Will all the shops be rebranded? If so what colour? red or blue?  Not sure how it is going to work moving forward.

This quote made me laugh given it is only a few years ago since lolbrokes used to claim in advertising they were the 'world's biggest bookmaker'.  Now after a big merger they will just be a 'leading' player in the industry.  However much cash the FOBT's have made for lolbrokes since 2001 they have, imo, been the downfall of Lolbrokes as they became so lazy and arrogant about their market position from having 10000 cash cows.  If they had never existed lolbrokes would surely have kicked on in the modern betting world like all their rivals did.

Ladbrokes chairman Peter Erskine said the deal was a "major strategic step" for Ladbrokes.

He said:

Together we will create a leading betting and gaming business combining strong brands with an attractive multi-channel offering and an extensive national and international coverage. The transaction will provide an attractive opportunity to generate considerable value for both sets of shareholders, through significant operating synergies and a strong cash flow profile.

To further back up views on this, I too think Sterling is an excellent shout at 80s

It is not clear exactly where he will play this season.

The first option seem to be right midfield/wing of a 4-4-2 with Kun and Bony upfront. This has been city's standard formation for most Prem games, especially at home to weaker teams and this probably explains why Sterling is 80/1 as he will provide more assists than goals with this set up.

The second option is upfront in a 4-3-3 which could easily be wide right in a 4-5-1. I think that City are more likely to try this this year as the 4-4-2 was getting stale and found out last season. A midfield 3 of Fernandinho,Toure and Delph with a more established Mangala/Kompany partnership behind them will have the full backs playing effectively as wingers and with Silva/Sterling/Kun up front, I can see a shedload of goals for City this year. Silva is a poor finisher, Kun will get the most, but there is no reason why Sterling can't get 15 goals min.

Some firms are as low as 50s and 66s is the general price. I would snap up the 80s now (before he runs riot vs Madrid and ends up at 25s Smiley)

Sergio Perez has just had a really spectacular and nasty crash in first practice, with the car ending wrong way up.

He seems to be ok, but sounds quite shaken up.

The car is a total wreck.

I am assuming we are ok to carry on with these bets? He is ok, right suspension failure, wheel caught under the car flipped him

59 degrees on track in Hungary. When do we consider betting on Vettel and the red lot's tyre management?

We don't, yet. Or at least I don't. Even in the hotter temperatures, I think Mercedes' advantage is too large now.

Yeh, very odd accident. Raikkonen also had an unusual one. The FIA, Force India and Ferrari are investigating.

Qualifying bet, yes. Hold off on the top six finish bet until we know his car can be rebuilt for FP2. I'll let you know.

Ozil is 12/1 with PP. He's 6/1 2nd fav with the 3 other bookies offering prices.
I'm pretty sure the 6/1 is the right price, ifr not shorter. If Tal can snap up any of the 12/1, Fred should certainly be on.

Peter Wright at 50's with 888 is too big as well.  He should be the same price as Chis imo.

we have £15 at 51.00

he joins RVB, Chisnall in the portfolio

i think we'll be anti-funking the front few in the market at christmas time

not Sterling at 16-1? (i asked with him in mind before i saw the prices)

fabregas, ozil, mata, hazard etc are the ones most of us will alight on, i suppose

Any love for Firmino assists at a general 25s  ?

The signings all suggest that Liverpool are going to focus all their efforts this season on scoring goals.

Firmino has not been bought to sit on the bench and will play wide or just behind the front man (men? )

In a way, that's a good shout, boo, my worry would be will Liverpool score enough goals? They don't strike me as potentially prolific.
