We need some more League One flicks please.

Wigan have signed so well this summer - Will Grigg, Max Power, Craig Morgan, Craig Davies Michael Jacobs. Like I've sayed before this league is not as tight as the prices suggest and there's every chance of a small breakaway group at the top again.

£20 @ 18-1 on the handicap +2 (general) please.

And we'll take on Chesterfield in a match bet.

£110 @ 8-11 Bury to finish above Chesterfield, Lolbrokes.

And finally, saw a lot of the Grimsby-Poshies friendly and they looked very good. They've crushed pre-season. Obv you can't take that at face value but...

£25EW double, Wigan @ 6-1 and Grimbsy @ 5-1, Coralololol. Stick it in Clare's eye.

Real cling on for a very convincing 2-0 win.

Good shout, Tal Bloke, as was, I assume, Ant's Palace v Bromley one the previous night.

Have to say, I'm with Tighty on friendlies, I'm not convinced they are generally a good betting medium, though I'm sure there are exceptions.

Anyway, the season starts proper this weekend, so we'll have plenty to occupy us.

Chompy - anything catch your eye as out of line on the League 1 spreads?

This weekends Premier League games are priced up here, as well as a bunch of sub markets for this weekend, & the season as a whole.

Here's the Championship version.....

Not sure we should be going overboard with betting on matches this early, but some of the sub markets may appeal.

The jump up to premier league is always hard the first few matches.  Villa and Palace are both bigger prices than I thought to win at Bournemouth and Norwich respectively?  I thought those matches would be coin flips.

I know the premier league odds are hard to beat, but any thoughts on these prices?

Also Newcastle dogs at home to Saints caught my eye.

Villa are waiting on Adebayor and Townsend, which is being held up because spurs are sorting out replacements. If it can all happen in the next couple of days, I think Villa will be a superb price.

think Villa at home is a perfect start for Bournemouth. Really think Bournemouth could go well early doors.

was surprised to see Palace at 2/1 at Norwich.

Without looking what price would people offer for Bolton to be bottom 3 after first 5 games.

Derby (h)
Boro (a)
MKD (a)
Forest (h)
Blackburn (a)

I don't have any stats, but is there any mileage when you are a promoted team that is easier to have a game like Villa at home on the 4th/5th match after you've had a few games to get used to the pace of the league?

Personally I'd rather have a tough away game first while you are dipping the toe in.  The counterweight to that is you don't want to shred confidence I suppose.

Seeing as we are on Chesterfield to get relegated would their spread be one to get on?

Quick Alan Hudson story

its the 76-77 season and I am goalkeeper for my school, U11s

Hudson has just moved back to London from Stoke, playing for Arsenal

Hudson has a son, also called Alan, who he puts in my school, and cue much excitement as he's bound to be decent isn't he?

Indeed he is. No-one can get the ball off this tiny lad in the school playground, and on the playing fields he drives the PE teachers to distraction because once he gets the ball its beat ten men and shoot and never pass

Anyway, games against other schools are Wednesday afternoons. great fun, especially as it means an afternoon off lessons

September 76. We're at home to big local rivals

I'm in goal

A dishevelled figure appears in the distance in a grubby kaftan, unshaven and with a bottle of something in a paper bag in one hand and a fag in the other

He stands on the touchline and watches his son. Its Alan Hudson

Anyway we are 10 and 11 year olds. The PE teacher is old school, and barks at the lads to "get it forward" at every opportunity

After about five minutes of watching the ball fly over his son's head in both directions, Hudson marches onto the pitch and stops the game

"ref, this isn't helping my son, we're off"

takes young Alan by the hand, now a spare hand as the fag is in his mouth, and marches to the car park

Young Alan never played for the school again

With ten men, we lost.

What a great story! Feel kinda sorry for Alan Jr. ...

Ive had a nudge on Still On Top, Ladbrooks go 7/4 and betfair 16/1. Anybody any thoughts or help as to why

The price that caught my eye was Watford, 9/2, away to Everton.

Having said that, not sure we should be betting much at this stage, though I suppose if we were good enough, this'd be the time to spot value.

I do know that because of our positions, I'm hoping Sunderland lose, & Watford perform respectably.
