I'd be a lot more confident in Chelsea if they could secure Stones to compliment Terry/Cahill/Zouma.

Big statement of intent here from City.
Imperious performance.
However, if Chelsea are 7/2 after this for the title, they're at their lowest ebb right now, know where they need to recruit and will improve. That kind of price, if it gets chalked up, would feel to me like an overreaction.
Views?
Edit: Billy Mountain is right in there at 7/2
Yup, remember now, apologies I could not recall where the debate began.

Nick Goff (corals head of football) has been massively anti Chelski/pro Man City and Scousers (they are 12/1 scousers when everyone else is 20/1) since pre season. He was always going to go top on his own Chelski and trump his rivals. Doesn't surprise me he has gone 4/1. Does seem a bit of an over reaction but Sunday's game was a 6 goal GD swing between the two major title rivals. This may be a bit early to consider but it is a definitie extra small edge rather than just losing 1-0.
Jose has sounded under the cosh since early pre season in all his media work. Something is clearly not right at Chelski behind the scenes imo by the way he is acting and reacting. Subbing Terry was a huge factor way beyond just this game and looked like his way of sending a message to the dressing room rather than any tactical gain which he claims. Add in the doctor nonsense and all is not well there imo.

Anyone ever used the data protection act against an online bookmaker before? I am fed up with the way they act towards everyone except the biggest droolers on the planet.
I am personally of the opinion FOBT's should be allowed. However the fact 84% of bookmakers turnover is on FOBTs make a joke of obtaining a "bookmakers" high street licence. They should bloody well have to get a casino licence with those figures. Of course if they actually took some bets and over 50% of their business was indeed bookmaking it would be fair enough. Sadly the UK gambling commission seems to think there is no problem with the licences, another joke of an organisation.

Turnover is very misleading when you compare one product which is a 2-3% roi product (fobt's) on a high turnover/tiny margin product with the over the counter (OTC) traditional business which they like to use the total opposite high margin/low volume model for. They could easily run their OTC shop business at a 2% model then they would turnover fortunes like the FOBT's if they took on every pro/arber out there like they used to do in the shops for decent volumes. The city demand that these firms 'hold' their decent OTC margins. Never sure why tbh if they are turning over fuck all.

by the by, Stoke are 9/4 to win at Norwich this weekend. after last weekend's miscues, i hesitate to mention it, but 9/4?
[/quote]
It looks more like a no score/score draw to me, but one thing to factor into that price is that (hopefully) Shaqiri will make his debut and that will encourage Stoke's 12th man (the fans) to make even more noise than they did at spurs last Saturday. They may only be just over 1,500 in the ground though this time. Mike Dean is in charge.

It doesn't matter whatever way you look at it though, the extreme majority of their business on high streets now is FOBT's. Turnover/Profits/Company Focus whatever angle you choose.
What IS very misleading is having a high street bookmakers licence, but using it to run a casino.

I don't disagree with anything you say but a guy can put £50 in a roulette machine in actual cash and turnover £2000 in an hour quite easily. It is very hard for the same punter to have a first bet of £50 and turnover £2000 in less than an hour OTC.

Going back to Goff and the 4/1 chelski (bf is 4.6/4.7 tight for £k's). I would be amazed if you went into a coral shop today as an unknown and ask for £5k at 4/1 and Goff was at his desk when the phone call went through to ok it that you wouldn't get on. Goff has a big ego and likes to use twitter to tell everyone he will lay a bet on stuff he wants to lay. Coral seem to have quite a twitter culture amongst their senior staff. I am surprised the top brass allow them to give away as much info as they do on twitter to the masses. I certainly wouldn't if i was paying their wages. The problem i have with coral is why they don't just lay me online for this kind of stuff as i have several shops where i have no problem getting chunks on big league stuff where coral have strong opinions like this and they don't know who i am when i am betting it.
It would make everyone's life easier in terms of handing big sums of cash backwards and forwards.

What bet exactly are you talking about at 4/1 arbboy?
I agree what you say about coral would be simpler and make life easier. However that's not how they operate. They set my account to 0.00 on anything anyway. Not even 10p on a virtual dog. Can still play bingo though I was told.
I could still go into town and try in the shops though if theres something decent around.

I know fook all about football, but was talking to someone who is well up on it, and he was basically saying ^ this.
Maybe there could be some value in laying/opposing them this season?

Cheers yeah that is a good price they have gone on them.
When there is a decent length of time between handing the money over and collecting you have to ask yourself if it is worth it compared to other financial products. That said, I do not follow my own advice as have a myriad of bets on stuff a long time away such as the US elections
