Only posting this now cause it is breaking news and we might miss the price otherwise.

Offensive rookie of the year. Last year's bet, Kelvin Benjamin, plays for the Carolina Panthers and did enough to win in a normal year,  but got unlucky that he was in a supreme class for his position, wide receiver.

In the draft, the panthers again went for a wide receiver. Another 6 foot 5 physical speedster, who will impose himself against smaller opponents. Step forward, Devin Funchess.

He is 66/1 to win this year, largely on account of the fact he'll be the second choice for the quarterback in the deep behind Benjamin.

Only Benjamin has just done his ACL and is out for the season. Funchess will be the top wide receiving option for a team that needs to pass to win. It's a much better year to pick the best attacking rookie as the depth of elite talent isn't the same. Amari Cooper in Oakland will be good and Melvin Gordon will be a good running back, but Kevin White is out for the year and now so is Benjamin.

Funchess is still 66/1 with Chorals. If Fred doesn't see this before the price changes, he can have a fiver of mine at that price.

Do you still make this a bet at 50/1 with badly?

Hello

my concern would be that the situation doesn't help Funchess either. rather than going against number 2 cornerbacks he will now be up against number 1 cornerbacks in an offense that doesn't have many receiving options and could be quite run heavy (both cam newton and running back)

it doesn't look as strong a year as last year but one of winston/mariota/gordon/cooper is the most likely winner.

i have my eyes on another outsider, but want to see another couple of their pre-season games first

Certainly will help his chances as now he will be a certain starter, a matter which was up in the air before Kelvin went down.

50/1 is too big a price for a starting wideout in an open year in a pass reliant league.

The 2nd race also has a nice shape, with a few horses that aren't all that.  I think quarter first 3 besharah at 4/1 (sj, shy and everyday) looks like a bit of a bet to nothing.  Has the form on the ground and distance so shouldn't be out of the places and is close to bf on the win (well ahead on the place).

Suggest 20 e/w here too, and we can put that on the account.

ok on account please

Think someone mentioned a couple of days back, but Stoke still look a good price to beat Norwich this weekend.  Over reaction to Norwich beating Sunderland in my opinion.  11/5 anyone?

Agree to a point price wise but Stoke's spine of their team has been destroyed over the summer through transfers and injuries and the jury is still out for me after the first 2 games.  Pretty sure Hughes doesn't have a clue on his first 11 yet.

Hi,
Doobs in that first race 1.55 york.., could we consider another ew bet?
Its very speculative and horse needs to find bit of improvement, but its a nice price.
OPERATIVE was 2nd to orvar on their first runs. ( orvar is 8/1 this race)
His 2nd race at Salisbury when 3rd, the winner and 2nd in that race have both come out and won decent races.
The goodwood race he got smashed about , the 3rd came out and won a decent maiden , as did the 7th horse.
He has raced at 6f all races and in soft ground.
Billys are 33/1 first 4  1/4 odds
Lolbrokes 40/1 first 4 1/5th odds.
What do you guys think?

Personal opinion..nothing more than that.... loved him as a footie player never rated him as a a manager..bit like like pardew..goes somewhere starts off ok then a steady decline until eventual sacking.. rinse repeat.... never liked Keegen either..always came across as a quitter...

Looks fine to me.  My view is if you start in the right race, it is harder to make bad bets.  Pity we missed the price at the ex bookmaking firm.

Edit.  Be careful in the first all.  Just noticed beteveryday are now 3 places in the first.  I wouldn't have expected that unless there were less than 16, but 18 are still listed.

Most of the bets placed so far seem more like hopeful punts rather than value spots
