I'm backing draw-draw at 6.5. £50 pre-game on Arsenal-Draw at 1.18.

Gl everyone, let's have a bink between us.

Oi oi, weighed in. Love these Bet365 in-play specials.

Turgid.

Harsh.

I've seen far turgider.
I wanted almost anything other than that result.
A Pool win to win 400 odd euro. An Arsenal win to stop Pool clean sheet for Fantasy purposes. A Benteke assist or goal, an Ozil assist or goal.
Anything.

Had some free time tonight and less tomorrow morning, so...

You know that awkward moment in the lift at work where you have to spend a seemingly endless period of time with someone you don't like and nothing is happening? Just the odd noise and the two of you left to make small talk until you can finally get out of there...

Midtable rubbish.

Nick Kyrgios got his comeuppance for his ungentlemanly conduct towards Stan Wawrinka, having made a remark which would have started a fight in many a pub in Brum. As well as a fine, the aussie will face a 28 day ban.

That is an actual photo of him. No idea how he does that.

Speaking of lovable rogues, Justin Gatlin's agent announced the sprinter will no longer be giving interviews to Auntie:

"Justin, as well as I, feel that the British media and journalists have been extremely unkind to him. There’s been nothing positive said about him now for some time. Every characterisation is solely about doping and vilifying him.

So, to maintain his own dignity and self respect, he feels it best not to speak to them. It’s very unfortunate, but he’s been hurt tremendously by these attacks. And as human beings, we should be better than that. The BBC in particular should report without lacing their comments and reporting with biased views."

Moral high ground duly taken. 7/4 for the 200m, anyone?

David Hasselhoff tweeted Yaya Toure to point out he was wearing his shirt.

Apparently, that's a news story. Who knew?

I'll tell you what IS a story: The Deadman got heads up and actually won!

The great fighter pilot Albert Ball has a tenuous connection to one of the favourites in the St Leger.

Russia's highest pure military award.

Two more Strictly contestants have been announced, with Jay from popular beat combo The Wanted...

...and Anita Rani from The One Show joining the cast.

One wonders whether Harry Styles or his pals might be considering an appearance (perhaps our One Direction insider could investigate?).

Kirsty Gallagher is heavily rumoured, as is Louise Redknapp. Should keep the dads interested. Kirsty may well be a frontrunner in the market. Taller people can look much better in ballroom dances if they can make longer lines. Of course, the problem is the movement of the latin disciplines.

Google images "kirsty gallagher"...looks for tasteful picture...and eventually makes do with this:

Similar story with Louise Nurding. Was there anyone else on the cover of FHM in the nineties? Anyway, she presented Top of the Pops once, seemingly.

We shall have to see whether either or both do make the final list. I know, I know, but do try to contain your excitement. Not long now.

No need to say sorry. season long ante post bets, injuries etc are always a risk

some better news on two cricket bets

Mddlesex won at Durham yesterday and whilst they won't overhaul Yorkshire for the title are well placed with three games to go to finish second at 14-1 outsiders of 9 each way

Lancashire are 10 points clear of Surrey at the top of Div 2 with three games to go. this is an outright bet and Lancs host surrey 14-17 sept at sunny old trafford to decide the title

Poshies are still being priced up like a play-off team, when in fact we're Crewe in blue shirts.

Gillingham are still being priced up like Crewe, when in fact they're a play-off team.

Fumming that I didn't back them pre-season because of a touch schedule, but they've beaten Sheff Utd and Wigan, and as long as they have Bradley Dack they'll be fine.

Next weekend's match should be, at best, 13-8 Poshies, 5-2 Draw, 13-8 Gillingham, but they've opened Evs Poshies, 12-5 Draw, 12-5 Gillingham.

Rec £50 Gillingham @ 12-5 in a couple of spots.

Also, Poshies have been starting games slowly and Zakuani will be suspended next weekend, meaning another reshuffle at the back, so also £20 on Gills-Gills half-full @ 11-2 with Joke.

Dave 'Over The Moon' Robertson is a footballing version of David Brent and won't be there much longer. We're opposable until he's gone.

What about Tuesday night?

Last Tuesday (pre Sheff Utd) Posh were favourites until about 3/4 hours before the game started, just before KO Sheff moved into nearly odds on with some makers.

Charlton come to LR Tuesday night and are 8/5 with Betthread (recommend £50). 10/3 on Full Time (recommend £15) and I'd hedge it with £10 on Chalrton -1 on the handicap with  Khoral.

Charlton put 4 past Dagenham in the first round, resting a couple of players and I'm expecting a price swing again Tuesday when teams are announced.

thanks

we are pretty much out of money on betfred and coral. just the mix of winners to losers on various sites in the short term

i will email tikay tomorrow with a wish list and if the price is still there when that's done we'll do Charlton @ Peterborough

haven't forgotten about this

can't do it yet, but have written to tikay

betfred are now 9/5 charlton

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/league-cup/peterborough-v-charlton/winner

there is a big slew of league cup games tonight

about from charlton at peterborough, does anything stand out?

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/league-cup

i know team selection and premier league motivations are tricky to ascertain, but i'll ask nonetheless

I would have made Usain a big fav for this surely given the anti drugs bbc stance throughout these championships.  Amazed he is a 5/2 shot behind Serena.  If Steve Cram is anything to do with the voting then Bolt will have already won it for 'saving his sport'.

From decoding interviews I'm pretty sure Troy Deeney won't start at Deepdale (or indeed be in the squad) and some of the guys who haven't had much of a chance yet will get a match to shine.  This will still be a strong team as we have 30 seniors (several of whom are trying to avoid being shipped out this week).

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/league-cup/preston-v-watford/anytime-goalscorer

2 players who aren't being shipped out but should get starts are Almen Abdi and Stephen Berghuis.  Both will play I think behind Vydra/Ighalo or even Jakubiak in a 4-2-3-1 so will be urged to get forward.  Abdi is very under-rated here by the market (half the odds in places) especially.

Recommend:

£5 Almen Abdi first goal at 16-1 (B365)
£20 Almen Abdi anytime scorer 6-1 (B365)
£5 Berghuis 1st goal at 10-1 (B365)

The reason I'm chucking Berghuis in is because I don't think he can last full game yet so will be very keen to impress in his 45/60 mins.  No sure there is value in him on anytime market.

I am amazed Greg rutheroford does not get the respect/profile that some other british athletes do

he's just completed the grand slam, olympic, world, european commonwealth champion

is this just because he is in an "unsexy" event?

No he is competing in an era of long jump which is piss poor to be honest.   That is as good as he can jump.  On a super fast run way, hits the board perfect and does 8.41m when at his peak year age wise in the peak week of the year he has targeted all year.  I appreciate you can only beat what is in front of you but he doesn't deserve to be spoke about in all time UK greats imo however many medals he has won.

At the total other end of the scale is Tony Jarrett who was truely world class hurdling behind Jackson for years, had a pb within 9/100ths of the world record which stood for years after he retired and won nothing his whole career.

http://www.alltime-athletics.com/mlongok.htm

Where is Rutherford on this list?  You fall asleep scrolling down before you find him.  His PB of 8.51 was dubious as well according to his wiki page.  That is effectively his PB imo 8.41m.  That puts him =278th all time on biggest jumps in history.

has to be a stale price?

think the market has just been pulled. getting "technical error" when trying to get 5/2

i suspected as much, but we cannot access the bet365 prices fully

1
Almen Abdi
   Preston v Watford
To Score at Any Time    25/08/2015    6/1
   None    To Run
Stake 8.33    To Return 58.31

the FGS are limited to pennies so we'll go with Abdi anytime
