Now in the Skelton yard and got rid of the silly headgear. Good last time out. Should have plenty of stamina.

9/1 with Staniel but more importantly 8/1 generally. 16 runner handicap so 4 spots for the each way. Interested in views.

Ha! Well remembered.

Henderson says doesn't want it too heavy and expects it to come on for the run, but still expects it to be in the frame today. Should be a good test.

Has he been tried over fences at home already?

Because he jumped the obsticles rather than taking them in his stride like a seasonsed hurdler does.

Re Kings Palace - he took it up 4 out but after 3 out was a spent force, like nearly all the pipe runners last few days didnt get home at all, i would be wary of theirs until see some storming home again.

All the hype about his old man winning this race numerous times forced the pipe horse off way too short.  It is pretty clear pipe jnr isn't a shadow of his old man.  His horses have been running terrible for weeks.

I really think  this horse wasnt at its best today, for whatever reason.Again as said before, his horses have not been getting home last couple of days.

I dont know if David isnt as good, or if things have moved on/changed so much since Martins days. Without doubt Martin was brilliant and used new methods, prob a lot of other trainers have caught up and are doing similar things now. Anyway he still runs it really

There isn't an AP sitting on every one of his even money shots in his prime at Newton Abbot, Taunton, Exeter every monday when its pissing down with rain who would run through a brick wall to ride a winner in a class 5 hcap!  That makes a difference as well.  Pretty sure AP made Pipe snr better than he really was.

Is it not pretty similar to the hannon situation on the flat? The jnrs were probably running it in all but name.

David Pipe still has quite a few big money buyers involved but they wouldnt tolerate their horses being flogged to bits during the season, the way martin pipe was allow with certain johnson horses. Nicholls kind of still does this- throws away festival hopes for earlier success.
