Romford Golden Sprint final tonight. For those that might have followed the antepost selection Droopys Story is in the final at 9.24, and I think may even go off favourite (currently 3/1).

Three bets for tonight :

8.02 Ballymac Victor - Nice trial at the track over 400 and looks like he wants further. Think he will go off favourite later. £40 @ 9/4.

http://www.oddschecker.com/greyhounds/romford/20:02/winner

10.11 Southfield Noir - In a race full of hit and miss trappers, Noir is as capable as any. Too big. £20 @ 8/1.

http://www.oddschecker.com/greyhounds/romford/22:11/winner

10.26 Vandiva - Good winner at Romford previous visit and running well at Towcester. Should go off 6/4ish favourite imo. £40 @ 5/2.

http://www.oddschecker.com/greyhounds/romford/22:26/winner

Sadly we had 9/4 ---> 11/10 and lose to start the night. Then Noir didn't trap great, and Vandiva got bashed at the third bend to take it out of any chance of winning.

Thankfully for me at least (and anyone else who may have followed when I put it up @ 12/1), Droopys Story won the Golden Sprint final Smiley

adz put up on the fringe at 7/2 two months ago

just won at 13/8

bit of a day saver well done

Nice to be able to contribute.

Promise to involve more at Aintree.

What a fantastic week. Sadly not for my friends who continue to plough ridiculous amounts of money in and get shockingly little out, but in the meantime I get to mix with the great and the good,, so it ain't all bad.

Not sure what would have happened if Cue Card had stayed up, but it was gonna be a he'll of a race. It was a shame as the finish was a little flat in the end. A week ago the race was looking like it could be the best Gold Cup ever with the field we were promised but games were played again and even I didn't have a bet in the end. A first!!

Lovely to see Ms Pendleton do so brilliantly today when so many judges had written her off. I suspect there are a number of pros that wouldn't have nursed the horse as well to that finish.

Although I took a gamble that paid off with Vautour, it's such a shame that Willie has to play these games each year. Not sure what the brief is but it seems a bit rotten to me, and makes you appreciate blokes like Paul Nichols more, with his more open and honest approach, not a statement I ever expected to write!

Anyway, great Festival, and I hope we are all about to enjoy next year's.

Not sure if anyone is online right now, but following that dry FP3 session, I have a couple more bet suggestions:

Top Six Finish - BOTH Max Verstappen (7/4 with Betaway) and Carlos Sainz (9/4 with Bet Victor). I had them pegged as the third quickest team after pre-season testing, but their car looks quicker than even I had expected if they were running a reasonable fuel load, and it looks like they were given how it was handling. Suggest £20 on both.

Qualifying Winning Margin -
Exactly 0.1 - 0.25 seconds (2/1 with Bet366). A good price on what I would consider the most likely outcome. £20.

I was Online, & watching, Peter, sadly we can't bet with 365, but that qualifying margin was a nice spot.

Just to confirm, the Prestbury Cup bet has been settled as a loser. I couldn't remember whether Draw was an option. It must have been.

PM sent, Tikay.

Lust to tie up some Cheltenham loose ends.

Doobs sent me a nice lump of money last night, so we are all square. He & I tend to settle up as we go along, as we got in a muddle a while back.

Anon sent me some winnings, too.

Not sure how I stand with Spurs Bloke, but we keep a slate, & it's rarely much either way, so that can stay as is, if he is happy with that.

Marky stuck some stuff on, too, I've no idea how we stand, but he keeps good records, & we settle up Monthly, end of month, as a general rule.  If the debt is getting big, I'm happy to square him up immediately.

Think Mark Porter may haver put a bet on, but I don't have the details. He & I generally settle month end.

Apologies to any I have omitted or forgotten, but let me know if I need to settle up please.

Big thank you to everyone who helped Fred this week.

We had a lot of fun, plenty of sweats, made a bunch on Days 1 & 2, gave most of it back on Days 3 & 4, but left a small profit, so that can't be bad.

Guess the next Fred Major will be The Masters. Bring it on.

Ha, our Posts crossed.

Yup, got the PM.

Hang on to the money, please, that gives us a bit in the bank if you feel able to oblige again.

Sternrubin was a lovely spot, we got a shade unlucky with both Red Spinner & The Prestbury Cup.

All good, thank you.

Not a big market, but one of the few this week which fell perfectly for the Bookies.

I Haven't done the Prestbury cup bet £50 at 13/8 Ireland yet

it was close earlier, did it win or just lose?

Good work Rich, deduct the Prestbury Cup & we end up with £45 net profit. Could have been so much worse or better, but I'm happy with that, £45 & a bunch of fun, can't whack that.

You've been immense this week, as always, but I know you have your hands full with other stuff right now. No idea how you find the energy or time, but thank you.

I think you watched a different session to me?  Tongue

1) Hamilton 1:23.837
2) Robserg 1:24.197

Much as I would like to take credit for a winning bet ..

I watched the whole thing, half asleep, then stupidly copied that from the F1 site.

And a big +1 to Tighty from me, too. He will no doubt be balancing everything else with trying to keep on top of how many NFL players and prospective NFL players are getting arrested or failing drugs tests of late.  It's mindblowing. At some point, they must think, "If I can just behave myself for six months, I'll be getting a multimillion dollar contract". But no.

Chess is back today after a rest day (where, I expect, Anand rested). Our man has the black pieces against Anish Giri, who has been very solid and not demonstrated any eagerness to take risks so far. This game will bring us to the halfway stage of the comp.

Here is the assessment of the players and the tournament situation by British Grandmaster, Jon "I look nothing like your stereotypical chess player honest guv" Speelman:

For anyone interested swindons price has now dropped to a best 29/10 (bet366) from the 16/5 last night, still worth taking. Wouldn't be surprised if the price dropped more closer to kick off. With regard to it being a playoff contender vs bottom half, you only have to look at the table to see how close it really is. Swindon are only 6 points behind Coventry, and have a game in hand. Playoffs to bottom half is very tight, and given the recent form of both teams Swindon should be backed, especially given their goal scoring ability.

I also like the look of Yeovil against Cambridge at 23/10 with Skai/Billyhills. Yeovil have won four on the bounce and drew the two before that (draws coming against teams 3rd and 6th). Cambridge have only won 1 in 4 and are struggling for goals, just 3 in that same 4 game period. Yeovil have a very solid backline, no goals conceded in 5 games, and I can't see why this would change against a team not scoring many.

Their results the last few weeks is consistent to say the least, four 1-0 wins in a row. I'd also recommend £10 on the 1-0 win exhange at 9/1, and can also be found at 17/2 with victor.
