First time for me watching the women's cricket and it's absolutely dreadful.  They barely have the batting skills to even score singles.  Is this normal?  Guess I won't be tuning in again.

slow spinning surfaces, a lot of the teams don't have the power to generate their own force to send it back over the boundary. as a result nibbly medium pace and spin is nigh on unhittable if accurate. in the mens game of course the pros have powerful upper bodies and huge bats so generate their own power to score at strike rates of 130-140, a completely different game

on quicker surfaces where there is pace on the ball to work with , the women's game is a touch more exciting imo

Anyone think Afghanistan are a bet at 13/2 to beat England tomorrow? Their batsmen must fancy their chances against our friendly attack? If any pressure comes onto England do we trust any of our players apart from Root to perform?

I agree.  I posted a comment on the spread market yesterday.  England will of course likely win, but I do think the Afghans are overpriced.

Betfair is 9.2/9.4, which is a touch over 8/1.  Commission will likely mean we get a shade under 8/1.  Always check the lay prices too.

Not till Weds morning but I think selling England over Afghanistan is a spread bet at 45.  You can never count against England messing up royally and even if they likely win break even is them winning by 45 runs or chasing for loss of 4.5 wickets.  Just don't see how anyone could buy at 53.  Afghanistan are not total mugs with bat or ball.

Just a reminder of this post Tighty.  I have sold at £5 a point, but Fred can have £1 or 50p if you wish.  If you confirm it on here today then accept it as done (as I am out this afternoon).  Of course free to reject it if not your cup of tea but if you want to do it happy to settle it along with all the footie stuff in May.

Your max downside is either 55 points if England win by 10 wickets or whatever you think is the maximum possible run victory margin in T20 minus 45 (most likely less than the max downside if Afghans bat first).

what does your package involve?

how did you win it? ie how much not "i had aces in the big blind and he raised..."!

been to vegas before?

please do not be one of these vulgar people that wears football tops in vegas sports lounges. desn't reflect well on our country, especially if its a peterborough shirt

Thanks chaps Smiley

The package is an 8 night stay in the Orleans Hotel & Casino with all flights and transfers. Not sure how much food and drink is included yet. While over there I'll play in the Vegas 100 tournament to crown the year's overall winner, plus there are 2 more (I think) tournaments too.

It's through the Redtooth Poker national pub league so to qualify I had to come in the top 3 of our pub league (I won it), then finish in the top 15 of the regional final (came 4th, winner gets a ticket to the Vegas trip), then finish in the top 5 of the southern national final. There are 100 winners overall - all the regional final winners over the year (there are 4 seasons a year) and the 10 winners from the 2 national finals.

Never been to Vegas before, am absolutely buzzing! It's also my wife's 40th birthday while we're over there so we've managed to offload the kids to my parents and I'm taking her with me to celebrate.

Wonder how many people over there have seen a Wimbledon shirt before....  Grin

Wonderful stuff, should bring a smile to the face of all recreational players.

Congrats, & enjoy.

slow spinning surfaces, a lot of the teams don't have the power to generate their own force to send it back over the boundary. as a result nibbly medium pace and spin is nigh on unhittable if accurate. in the mens game of course the pros have powerful upper bodies and huge bats so generate their own power to score at strike rates of 130-140, a completely different game

on quicker surfaces where there is pace on the ball to work with , the women's game is a touch more exciting imo

How does that compare to the equality debate in Women's Tennis, Rich?

Doubt it's relevant Tikay as the men get paid vastly more for their superior product.  Tennis and athletics are (I think) the sports where there is a genuine argument that the products are equally good?

Equally as good in tennis & athletics? On what basis do you say that?

Men perform better in athletics, we can see that by comparing World Records etc.

Men compare better in Tennis, if Serena played Nadal she's lose very heavily indeed.

If you are saying they are equally as entertaining to watch, you may well be correct, it's subjective, but that's a completely different argument.

Women are not as good as men in most sports, by any rational yardstick, you cannot argue with that.

And before anyone gets silly, I'm not anti-feminist, not at all, but in no sense are Lady tennis players, athletes, cricketers, golfers, darts players, snooker players, el al, "equally good" as men. They are not.

My argument is the marketable product as opposed to lap times or service speed.  The cricket and football just feel miles apart.

football and cricket are miles apart from tennis/athletics as they dont perform on the same stage, creating combined income (for major events anyway).
