First time for me watching the women's cricket and it's absolutely dreadful.  They barely have the batting skills to even score singles.  Is this normal?  Guess I won't be tuning in again.

slow spinning surfaces, a lot of the teams don't have the power to generate their own force to send it back over the boundary. as a result nibbly medium pace and spin is nigh on unhittable if accurate. in the mens game of course the pros have powerful upper bodies and huge bats so generate their own power to score at strike rates of 130-140, a completely different game

on quicker surfaces where there is pace on the ball to work with , the women's game is a touch more exciting imo

How does that compare to the equality debate in Women's Tennis, Rich?

Doubt it's relevant Tikay as the men get paid vastly more for their superior product.  Tennis and athletics are (I think) the sports where there is a genuine argument that the products are equally good?

Equally as good in tennis & athletics? On what basis do you say that?

Men perform better in athletics, we can see that by comparing World Records etc.

Men compare better in Tennis, if Serena played Nadal she's lose very heavily indeed.

If you are saying they are equally as entertaining to watch, you may well be correct, it's subjective, but that's a completely different argument.

Women are not as good as men in most sports, by any rational yardstick, you cannot argue with that.

And before anyone gets silly, I'm not anti-feminist, not at all, but in no sense are Lady tennis players, athletes, cricketers, golfers, darts players, snooker players, el al, "equally good" as men. They are not.

Don't know if I wrote this somewhere else or just thought it. Women's football and cricket have merit but I struggle to watch them. Caught some of an international womens rugby international the other day and it was top class entertainment I thought. I'd pay to watch that but not a men's game.

Got nothing to do with the general discussion but shirley in this day and age the argument over which is better or worth more is an irrelevance. Hope Djoko and co don't go too hungry with money seeping away from them to the wimmin

football and cricket are miles apart from tennis/athletics as they dont perform on the same stage, creating combined income (for major events anyway).

This T20 cricket seems a joint affair.  Both on sky and no clashes.

What I don't understand is why the women football players wear makeup like they are going on the lash

I'm still struggling to get passed gloves snoods and Alice bands in the men's game

All women are judged on their appearance, far far more than men, and very harshly in some cases, whatever they are doing, whether it is in industry, sport, politics, business or just on the street every day. In most of these instances their appearance is irrelevant and yet women's appearances are still scrutinised, commented on and used to judge and define them. I am a man, but to me for these reasons it would make sense why a sportswoman might wear a bit of makeup when competing.

I doubt the women were starving when they kicked up the fuss about equal prize money at Wimbledon either 'Oh but it's about what's fair' was the cry then. Hence some annoyance at them not caring when they have an unfair earning advantage.

England v afghans tomorrow, I like moeen Ali motm. Hales could miss the game due to a sore back, and one of the re-shuffles possible would see moeen open the batting. This is due to them thinking about playing 3 spinners on a very dry pitch, so either way he'll have a surface that suits. The trends this tournament have been opening batsman or spinners from the winning side getting the award. We could end up having both of those feautures rolled into one bet here. He's 14/1 at badbrokes and bet way, think hills have him as low as 7's. Looks decent value for a speculative tenner. Can't do oddschecker link, on my phone.

To be fair to Chompy, he did direct me to b365 which was no runner no bet.  Thanks.

Have bet, thanks. Even if he doesn't move up the order you have the insurance option that he could grab a few wickets and still get MOM

Picking all rounders who bat in top 5 and bowl their full quota is a good strategy for betting moms.

Works v well in franchise cricket.
