Any thoughts on this from the bike elders? Purely the product of some light reading last night and happy to bow to wiser heads:

Wednesday bet for me, please...

Giro d'Italia
Stage 5
Winner

Sacha Modolo

21/2 in two places:

http://www.oddschecker.com/cycling/giro-ditalia/giro-ditalia-stage-5/winner

20 points on the nose, please.

The favourite (Kittel) is too short, as he isn't suited to sprint finishes uphill. Modolo does like an uphill finish and could pip him on the line, if his team can get him into position. Let's have an Italian to seal a dramatic win.

Be good to get more posts across from the Naps Thread, so I can work out which ones are Fredable Tips and which ones are fun bets or trying to win the comp bets. 55 bets a day is a bit much. I just don't have the requisite number of husbands for the job. Cheesy

I have one available on free transfer.

Despite being badly injured Martial scored two last night to virtually seal that bet

Rising Pune Supergiants were not rising, rather puny and neither super or giant when losing to Sunrisers yesterday to remain in a scrap for bottom with our heroes Kings XI Punjab

I decided to eschew the opportunity to watch preening primadonnas last night and instead tuned into BBC4 where Russia qualified safely from eurovision semi 1, an extravaganza ruined by the presence of Scott Mills on our screens

last year's winner

this year's russia

spot the difference in the staging.....

Russia now into 11/10 to win it which given that most of the former USSR states have to vote for their big brother to stop them treating them like they do the Ukraine must be a good thing. We have £100 at 3.45

I trust everyone that likes a short one is aware of the Palermo-Verona Serie A angle for the weekend?

If Verona beat Palermo Saturday, it will cost them €15 million.

Palermo are....1/4 despite being in the bottom 4!. might allow myself a second !

Numbers don't add up I think. If Palermo go down they get 5m more than Carpi would have got - so potential for Verona if they stay down is 10m or 15m - so losing costs them 5 not 15?

Cough cough, Austria, cough.

Bulgaria seem to have lost a leg though, so £50 of the profit looks to be doooomed.

chompy

do we know who won the semi last night?

they announced ten names but no indication of an order?

for bulgaria at 8/1, where to look for the voting table rather than just a list of qualifiers?

They won't release the semi results until after the final on Saturday - they'll stick them up on the website.

They'll release the results of both semis on the machine late on Thursday...

No question Russia won semi 1.

Anyone know why Villareal (4th in league) are around 8/1 to beat Gijon (18th in league) on Sunday?

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/spain/la-liga-primera/gijon-v-villarreal/winner

Villareal guaranteed 4th I know, and Gijon are fighting relegation, but it still seems a massive price.

I'll ask the question, got a few contacts in the Vilareal Celtic Supporters Club. I'd have thought Gijon needing a win would leave them open to Vilareal's counter attacking (which they do well).

First reply I got was nobody knows what team VR will play - they put out a really weakened team at the weekend there, and could do the same this weekend.
Funny enough there's a rumour Celtic might play their development squad tonight as a reward for winning their league by winning every match this season, still wouldn't bet against them mind you.

General opinion is don't touch Vilareal, they're on their holidays already.

Thanks for the replies Rod. I see Gijon are still short odds to go down so I guess the opinion is that they will win this but the other teams around them will also win.
