...
our "blue sky" scenario is a Falcons/Patriots superbowl
...
Whatever happens, having two of the final four is nice. And could you just imagine that Super Bowl? We'd all be sitting in our Chesterfields, smoking fine cigars and the only sweat would be what Lady Gaga's opening song will be.
15/12: Atlanta to win the Superb Owl. £25ew (1/2, 1,2) @ 20/1
12/1: New England to win the Superb-owl. £207.75 @ 7/4
So I make that a profit for Fred of £392 if Atlanta win
Or a profit of £313.56 if New England win.
Happy Monday, Fred.

I properly messed that maths up. Rotten effort. Shame I couldn't go back and ninja edit. Fred's situation is obviously much better than that.
£592.25 if Atlanta win
£821.31 if New England win
At least I got it badly wrong the right way.
I should probably retrain as a bookie with that level of grimmability. Make a fortune. That'll learn me for chirping.

excellent results last night
now the challenge is to do £500 in cold blood on Lady Gaga's dress, half time show song lists, duration of national anthem etc

I'm sure we can manage that.

Really hope the bookies are reading the thread. They'll never restrict us again.

Pascal Wehrlein has been ruled out of today's nations cup on medical grounds after his huge accident yesterday. He has got a few bruises, but he'll be fine. This means that Vettel will be representing Germany on his own.
4:55 PM UK time on Sky Sports F1 if you guys wanted to tune in
Peter - What does that mean for the bet you put up of Germany winning team? Or was that for the event yesterday?
No disrespect to Pascal who is very talented, but it probably increases the odds of Germany winning. Sebastian doesn't have two bad days in a row, and he's absolutely bossing it today - won 4/4 races and eased through to the semi-finals.
so now it is just based on his results rather than an average of the two (sorry for possibly stupid questions!)
It's never based on an average. They're trying to get wins in their heats. Instead of Vettel & Wehrlein doing two each, Vettel did all four - and won all four too.
It's only easy if you know how it works, no problem asking questions, I could happily talk about motorsport for weeks on end
Thanks for the tip Peter!

Wonderful stuff Tal, what a great spot we are now in for Super Bowl.
I shall be able to watch it knowing we are Win-Win. Minus what we lose on the sub-markets, obv.
I never stayed up to watch the Patriots affair, just the earlier game, & to my naive eye, the Falcons looked absolutely rampant. Maybe the Packers injury woes contributed, or their delayed flight.
I did a bit of googling & Wiki-ing, & discover that Matt Ryan has been with the Falcons since 2008. Has he suddenly improved, or has the Team around him now improved?
Seems to be reasonably paid, too - signed a 5 year contract Extension in 2013 for around 100 milly. Very nice.
What was the debate on the sidelines between Julio Jones & the Coachy bloke about? "Give me the ball & I'll score" sorta thing?

I see you've amended mine from returns to profit, hence the massive disparity. I was worried enough without seeing the possibility I was that far out twice.

he was the 4th player drafted in 2008
always had the talent, but the roster never really gave them a shot (even after drafting julio jones)
a few things changed
- better drafting across the board (Assistant GM Scott Pioli is a Belichek disciple and its got noticeably more hits since he arrived)
- an offensive scheme under Kyle Shanahan (about to be the new 49ers head coach post super-bowl) that is quite innovative and showcases all their newly drafted toys
- a disciplinarian head coach in Dan Quinn (from the Seahawks, who has begun to put the pieces together to mirror the Seahawks defense that has the competitive every year) who doesn't take the crap the former head coach Mike Smith did
the result is an offense that is really high powered
the super-bowl should be close. Belichek (almost cliched to say it now) routinely takes the opposition's best weapons away and it will be fun to see how he sets abot stopping Ryan and co

Those Rugby Union boys are mighty tough.
In the Saracens - Toulon game on Saturday, I'm not sure Alex Lozowski knew what - or who - hit him.
A nice way of introducing himself, has the aplty named Matthieu Bastareaud.
Bosh.
PS - Lozowski got straight to his feet after that. Hope a few Pro footballers watched that.

You said they were profit in your original post. I checked as I thought they looked more like total returns. Either way the answer is loadsamoney.
What a cracking start NFL has had this year with this and Tighty's coup. Wasn't it the worst sport last year? Certainly the best this year. Sure there is a lesson there.
Gives something to aim at during Cheltenham. Hopefully, Konta can match it too. She looks pretty special from what I have seen, guess we'll find out where we are when she faces Serena next time out. So wish I didn't duck the Aussie Open for thread.
