That interview with the IAAF head of medicine was a car crash on the BBC just now.  Not one presenter was capable of understanding what they were told.

Don't get why Kerber is so long for the tennis in Canada this week?

https://www.oddschecker.com/tennis/wta-toronto/wta-rogers-cup/winner

She is 12s for the US Open.

No injury news that I know of. Instagram post from her says she has been training really hard for the past two weeks. Yes first match on hardcourts for a while and in same section as Kvitova (but Kvitova was absolutely awful in losing to Bellis the other day) Patchy season but reigning US Open Champion, played well when running into an inspired Muguruza at Wimbledon.

26 on Triple 8, 22s on Lads Choral. Someone talk me out of it!

Not here to talk you out of Kerber. Looks like a difference in opinion by the bookies. She's priced 10-1 on PP...

Saw Bellis get steamrolled by Coco last night. Perhaps her previous match took it out of her, but Coco looked inspired. Hopefully our girl will use the experience to good effect at the US Open.

Bellis won tonight, Coco out.  Rybarikova won too.  Rybarikova is unofficial 32 seed right now for the US open, as Serana is out.  Obviously her chances of keeping that position will be better if she wins another match or two.

Kerber and Konta don't play until the round of 32.  I did get a bit on Kerber this morning at 20/1.  The early morning trader is more generous than the late night one.

£50 Bristol Rovers to beat Posh on Saturday, 15-13 generally.

More details nearer the time.

Canadian tennis

Dimitrov is a 5/4 to win his quarter due to some upsets and pull outs leaving it very weak. Yet he is still 40/1 outright. The issue is that he would face Federer in the semi finals who he has a 0-6 record against. Thoughts?

T20 cricket ,live on Sky tomorrow

Hampshire v Glamorgan.

Top Hampshire batsman.

There is a bit of value in Dawson at 25/1 on PP and betunfair. As low as 11/2 elsewhere.

Rossouw and Carberry are injured (although in the betting) Dawson will bat 4 or 5. He just top scored for Hants in the championship match with 75. If there is a mini collapse at the top early on...he generally bats sensibly and build an innings.

Burnley have to be a bet surely odds against to go down this year surely?

https://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/premier-league/to-finish-bottom

Backing the Huddersfield 5/2 and Burnley 11/2 coupled looks a cracking bet for those who can get on.  Shade over 5/4 coupled.

Agree with this, think Keane will be a huge loss to them too.

Also think that Watford are starting to look like a team to be with on the handicap at plus 42 points.

Seems a change in transfer policy this year, with Hughes, Chalobah, Gray, and the young Brazilian Richarlison. Talk of Gibbs from Arsenal too.

Really rate Silva as a manger too.

Gonna be hard for them to replicate the home form from last season, which ultimately kept them up. Selling their better players with no sign of decent replacements coming in. Difficult to see them avoiding relegation.

Exactly they run like god last season at home, have sold their best two players and surely there will be some regression to the mean this year?  They have signed two well past their best Stokies to multi year deals which i assume were both for big money for them to leave Stoke.  Very odd transfer business by Burnley this summer.

You gotta love Blacktype.  Can never be too sure about laying something that is being backed.  They cut Burnley from 8/11 into 4/6 just to duck them a little more.  Nice work lads!  Don't think you were going to be filled in at 8/11.

Also Southampton to top the table by end of August at 13/1.....Swansea and WHU at home followed by Huddersfield away..... 9 points there for the taking. Goal difference is gonna be crucial but they could feasibly net a fair few goals whilst keeping them out at the other end (with or without VVD)

fixtures are in clusters this season

this gives the team time to settle with new manager and a honeymoon effect
so we should be back early for a good finish laying when the fixtures turn bad
then backing when the pundits are saying we have bad form as the fixtures turn good again
to lay off before the end of the season where we will finish between 8-14

I have 3 Saints players in my fantasy football team simply because of that run of games at the start! Probs have to move them on by November but by then they should have hauled in a fair few points.
