I found this unusual stone on the riverbank today.

About the size of a grapefruit and almost totally round. It appears to be made up with a mixture of stones and was quite heavy.

It looks like it was made for some purpose, any ideas anyone?

what do you camera lot reckon to this? Looks good to me, but I know nowt about cameras really.

Wouldn't touch it with a bargepole.

But then I'd say that about any cameraphone, for taking "proper" photos. Tiny sensor, noise is always going to be a problem, even more so with high pixel count. This uses pixel "oversampling" which means it's not actually 41Mp. And why would you need 41Mp anyway? You can print A4 perfectly happily (300dpi) from about 7Mp. Teeny tiny lenses, any imperfection is going to be magnified. Etc etc

Is Nokia that company that used to make mobile phones?

Plus, it's on Symbian.

I went back and recovered this. Initial investigation is it is not the same as the stones that Tom linked as there are no carvings.

I am looking at another Avenue as to whether it has a link to another item found in the same area as it appears to be of similar stone. no joy as yet though

Hey Geo.

Is it possibly an old sandstone finial from an old wall? Was it found on an old estate, with a now demolished house?

The first Red Admiral I've seen this year in my garden.

It was very tolerent of me so I photographed it with no zoom and was pretty much poking it with the lens!

OK Boshi. Time to choose a 'winner' and pick a new category.

A winner?  Surely blonde and photography are the winners!
