They are to the poor clubs, but out of principle you make red nose pay up front

Other way around. Poorer clubs want the cash up front and are rarely doing large xfers.

Sunday Telegraph reports a 'Middle East Consortium' poised to bid £1.5 billion for Arsenal.

The mind boggles at the potential for today's game to become even more fractious.

The trouble with that story is neither of our two main shareholders, Kroenke(60%) and Usmanov(c35%) have shown any apparent willingness to sell. In fact Usmanov would buy Kroenke's shares in a heartbeat should the opportunity arise so I can't really see that article as much more than speculation ahead of the derby.

I'm sure there are quite a few consortia who would like to bid for AFC.

Do the same rumours have Wenger arriving at Old Trafford thus freeing SAF for the Engkand job?

Rednapp at Arse could happen, lol. Wenger at OT well only in the Away dressing room, and SAF for England, so many reasons this is a dream.

End of post in Londons 3rd best teams thread.

Or Mankini might be free to apply soon, whoever it is, it's too late (gate bolted after horses and all that).

*note too self, RVP comments review needed.

Difference is if Piers Morgan was really that bothered he could afford to step in himself...

I would have laughed at taking a muppet like Suarez a few years ago, now I will accept news of almost anyone. What a state to get into. Im sure Wenger is sat in Japan thinking we a world beaters, cos we are beating up on a load of 2nd rate Jap teams.

Je ne vais pas partie avec de l'argent encore mes amis

Who'd be a football manager, & since when was spending money any guarantee of success?

Mr W has, by any reasonable standards, done a wonderful job, especially - MOST especially - with keeping his spending at sensible levels, & keeping some wool on Arsenal's back. Very satisfying to see they are paying for their new Stadium at a rapid rate, too.  Man C, Liverpool, Chelsea etc are losing absolute fortunes & running up monster debts, & much of my affection for Arsenal comes from their financial prudency. I love to see businesses run properly. I'd much rather see them with no trophies, but financially sound, than pissing money away.

I really don't think we should be calling distinguished individuals like AW "morons" personally, either. Guess it's an age thing, but to me, it seems so rude. I get called exactly that, daily, next door, & I loathe it with a passion. Those that say it have never seen the inside of an Online gaming site, just as most of us have never managed a Football Club.

Do we all really know better than the professionals like AW?

It could be argued that he has failed, or is bad at his job. That does not make him a moron, though.

I'm not being personal here Adzy, or digging you out as such, but that's just not the way to talk about fundamentally decent people, is it?

Sorry if this offends, that is not the intention, but the modern practice of being so rude when we are online sits badly with me.

Peace. Wink

No offence taken.

Probably wrong expletive used. **** is probably more apt.......I jest Grin.

No, I accept, its rather childish calling someone names on here.

I did however feel the need to let off some steam after listening to the usual rubbish in the car.

Mr Wenger seems to being living very much off past glories, and , as the years go past, I fear, his initial success, may have been the benefit of other peoples excellent ground work before him, and a few lucky signings(lets be honest his signings over the last 6/7 years have been nothing short of inept)

We(Arsenal) are now in a wonderful financial position, but my fear is that if the club keep taking the fans money and giving nothing back by way of true ambition, reflected by signings, in a few years we shall be a mediocre mid table team, and unable to fill our large stadium, as the more fickle fans have drifted away. Then Mr Wenger may not be deemed so financially adept as the coffers are not so full and we are a forgotten giant.

So rant over.

Also, didnt really expect anyone, bar Ralph to read it.... Shocked

As I said yesterday.... the man is deluded....a few wins in Japan and he thinks we are world beaters.........way past his sell by date IMO.

"We are ready to do quick deals but all the transfers do not depend only on us," said Wenger, quoted in the Daily Mirror. "But we are prepared to wait. It looks unlikely before the Emirates Cup.

"We still have a strong squad but we are there on the market to try to strengthen our team. With or without additions we can be title challengers next season."

Spending money is no guarantee to success. But alas, you cannot be successful in today's game without spending money.

Wenger needs to spend unquestionably.
