Yeah been some rumours seeing as it's hard to see how he'll get any game time this season otherwise. In the middle of the park there's 3 spots available and there's him, Ozil, Elneny, Ramsey, Coquelin, Cazorla, Xhaka and Iwobi all competing for them. Wilshere is down in that pecking order of course, so yeah a loan to Celtic wouldn't surprise me at all.

I've never particularly rated him, but I didn't realise his stock had fallen quite so badly. Guess it was inevitable his lifestyle would catch up with him sooner rather than later.

I think it's more his ankles than his lifestyle that have seen his stock fall.
He needs a run of games and he's not currently going to get that at Arsenal, not as a starter anyhow.

A lot of injuries, granted, but this situation can't have been helped by his lifestyle choices. I was mortified when City were linked with him in recent years, thankfully that was no more than paper talk.
He'll own a chippy in 3 years, ala Michael Johnson.

All in all that was a reasonable transfer window. We didn't lose anyone important for another season in a row so fair play to Wenger for that. Meanwhile Xhaka looks like a beast and Mustafi will slot right in to form a formidable CB pairing with Kos. I doubt we have enough goals to win the league though, particularly if Theo and Ox continue to underwhelm. Perez could be very good but likely just there to shore things up. I predict we'll finish 3rd, ahead of Spurs and Chelsea but behind City and United.

Mostly when I look up the age of a celeb, I'm shocked at how old they are.
I just looked up Michael Johnson and he's only 28!
Feels like so long ago he was going to be the next big thing in English football.
Expected him to be about 39!
Do you think he'll make a comeback for a lower league club somewhere? Such a shame for the fella what happened.

Have you not seen any recent pics of him, Keith?! I think I have more chance of playing at a lower league club one day than him. From what I gather he was pretty happy to be out of the footballing limelight, so I'd be very surprised to see him return to the game in any capacity.
Ironically, he'd be a perfect fit in this Pep team now. He just needs a 2 year intensive fitness course first

Pleasantly surprised to see him training this morning, after his journey/signing yesterday evening.
Hopefully he'll stay injury free and Eddie can get the best out of him , before carefully handing him back

Another bizarre decision to me.
A bloke considered a protege no more than a few months ago pretty much told he can go.
A strange choice of club too. I don't understand what the reasoning is.
If it's attitude, then sending a bloke with an over inflated ego to a smaller club to be big fish, won't exactly teach him humility.
If it's fitness and game time, then give him some at our club, but don't send him to a team likely to be scrapping for their lives most weeks, and expect to get back a better more refined player.
If he does well, he will have a year left on his contract and will be pretty much, up yours Arsenal, and if he does badly, then we should have sold him now anyway.
Don't get it....again.

Did the same thing with Ramsey after long term injury and returned a significantly better player. Good decision in my opinion. What's the difference between the two at this stage of their career, game wise?

I think Jack has played about 7 games since he first joined Arsenal
Wiltshire may well do so, but I suspect it may lead to the toys out of pram scenario, and then leaving, being a player of a much higher profile than Ramsy at the same stage. This is the bit that is odd.

Jack will never say up yours Arsenal, he has been a huge gooner his whole life. Everyone knows that Wilshere has enough potential to force his way back into the first team at Arsenal but quite rightly he needs regular first team exposure if he's ever going to be able to get there, plus i'm sure Jack wants to play rather than sit on the bench. I seriously doubt Arsene is loaning him with the intention of cashing in next summer given the loyalty he typically shows his players or that Wilshere wants to leave permanently.
