I really did think that Nem would have popped in this weekend just for old times sake.

Tal too!

He's too heartbroken after the closure of WHL.

Outstanding team performance and another tactical masterclass - hard to actually highlight individuals as everyone played a part.

Per Mertesacker on his first start of the year and possibly his Arsenal swansong was particularly impressive with his reading of the game and the timing of his challenges.

Only wish I'd availed myself of some 7/2 Sad

Especially nice to win another trophy chez les spuds Smiley

On a more serious note: Would fans rather win the FA Cup and finish 5th or Europa league(inc. CL) and finish 6th?

The other outstanding thing about today's team selection - one which left me somewhat aghast tbh given Cech's superb current form - was AW sticking to his word and selecting Ospina as the "cup" goalkeeper despite all of the injuries to regular starting defenders(Koscielny, Mustafi, and Gibbs) the perceived pressure about his position, and notwithstanding the fact that Ospina is almost certain to be on his way this summer, he stuck to his word and started him.

That exemplifies the measure of the man and why I hold him in such high esteem.

Stunning yesterday, and great fun.

All the usual stuff put aside and even all my mates in the pub cheering us on as the clear underdogs. Brilliant.

The answer I was looking for will never be answered now though.

I fully anticipate Wenger taking up a new contract, telling us to look at how this squad of players beat the Champs etc. They can win the league etc, etc.

However, if he had lost, would he have stayed??

You have to think that HAD to be the scenario to see him leave. If he had stayed on having lost everything, then why oh why did he make such a song and dance about a new contract-he was always going to stay- and therefore, almost by default he had to go, for CAUSING the issues he blamed for the bad season. Get my drift?!

Still, we will now never know.

I would love for him to think carefully about leaving on a high, because for the moment, he has kudos again.

The only positive I can take is that now we have no CL next year, and we didn't finish 4th, it can't be a complete deja vu scenario next season..... Lips Sealed

Thoroughly entertaining game yesterday. Happy Arsenal won and thought you were excellent and good to see players who are often maligned step up with great performances.

As good as you were, I hope you appreciated the early leg-up allowing the goal Smiley

Yes, looked a shade marginal, that one.

Tell you what, though, what a brave and correct decision by the ref to send the lad off for diving.

Rare to see such a brave decision in such a high profile game. Football needs more of that. All this diving, and waving imaginary cards to try and get opponents dismissed is pretty guttural stuff.

Was good to see Arsenal appear to be more energetic and compete harder than Chelsea. Good platform for then playing some pretty decent football. Pretty unexpected and all the more enjoyable for that. Per was super.
