$2500 8-game mix, day 1

Through with 10,850, just under average with 200ish left.

Not a vintage day obv., but one I'm really pleased about, as it was a really tough grind all day. Lost three ridiculous pots in stud-8, omaha-8 and PLO all to Victor Randim, to put me short, and really glad to grind back each time.

Restart 2pm tomorrow

Thursday 20th June, $2500 8-game mix, day 2

OUT of the 8-game unfortunately, in level 11, the third level of the day. Iroincally, my downfall came in no limit holdem, but it was a nothing-to-do spot. I had got up to 14k, Brett Richie raised the cut-off to 800 at 150-300(25), I had qsqh and made it 2,600, and Cindy Violette SNAP shoved the small blind for 8.7k. I actually didn't like it at all, and thought for a while, but have to call getting almost exactly 2-1, in a spot where she can obv have tt, jj, or ak at the minimum.

She had kings, and the board ran out dry, which left me short with 5.3k, which was not enough to survive a 600-1200 (200/200) card-dead stud round, and then an exit hand of as2s8d8c vs ax3x3ckd AIPF on a247k.

I was disappointed about this one, as I managed to fight back from short four times, but eventually fell over the edge.

Next event in pacakge one is the ten-game mix, which should be a great event.

Next tournament on the package is today (Friday's) 10-game mix event. Can't wait for it.

Those ten games are NLHE, holdem, razz, stud, stud-8, PLO, Omaha-8, triple draw, single draw and badugi. Average competency for most players last year was probably in about 7/8 of the games!

Friday 28th June, $2500 10-game mix

Unfortunately, a frustrating day hit the wrong tournament, as this six-handed ten-game event was definitely one of the most exciting of the series. I couldn't win a pot of any size at the limit games, which made for a disappointingly early bust out at the start of level six. In my exit hand, young stud grinder raised at 2-7 TD, and I 3bet the small blind with 23456 (drawing to 2345). He called and surprisingly drew three. I bet the flop dark thus, and paired my three. He callled and drew two on the next draw. I made 23459, and he called my slightly under-bet all-in, and drew one to his 7642, drawing to a 3,5, or 8 to beat me. He gave a frustratingly long squeeze, and so the 3 that he eventually popped on the table somehow felt inevitable. Felt that I didn't really do anything wrong today at all, just couldn't win the mini flips of limit poker.

Next tournament is an exciting one, Thursday 5th July's 10k deuce-to-seven no limit.

Hey guys,

Really sorry and gutted to have to cancel, but I finally made the decision today (Tuesday) to fly back home in a few hours. In truth, it's on and off been a pretty miserable trip, and then a couple of days ago, a situation came up at home with my girlfriend, which normally would have been a close call whether to hang on or not, but in these circumstances, made me finally decide to go home. I did want to hang on to see out the staking, but was also aware that I may not be in the right frame of mind to play, so it seemed more fair to cancel.

The remaining events are the 2-7 lowball and the Main Event. I will be refunding the lowball as soon as I get home on Wednesday afternoon (please send me bank details, Stars did get locked in the end, and I'll snap refund). There is a chance I might decide to fly back on Sunday for the Main Event Day 1C on Monday, if things are better. I will make this decision by Saturday, and if I do, offer everyone the choice of either retaining the stake, or having a refund. If I refund, I will do so at 1.15, as it was always acknowledged in this thread that the Main Event was the best value of the package.

I've played my heart out when I have played, and have been even more determined in the circumstances, and am gutted to have come close with a 14th and a 10th.

So, the trip... The very first night, I came to the Rio from the airport, put my bags down, locked the door, fell straight to sleep, and woke up in the morning to find my wallet completley stripped of it's $5k. It was such a bizarre one, as I had never left the room or let anyone in, and so was a pretty uncomfortable feeling that someone had come into my room when I was sleeping. Unfortunately, it set the tone for the trip. When we moved into our flat, we had a couple of days sweating eviction from our landlord, and then on my only night out, I was robbed of the entire contents of my wallet again. And so it was this backdrop that made me decide to go home when the issue back home came up.

Especially sorry to the package 2ers, as I had to cancel the HORSE as well because of the single draw run. It was definitely the right decision from my point of view to go home, and I'm pretty sure it is in terms of the package as well.

Thanks for the staking guys, sorry not to deliver better. Will update on Main Event decision on Saturday

No problem Stu, I trust your judgement on this sort of stuff.

So gross that you get robbed twice. I've generally been pretty lax on putting stuff in the safe all the time, definitely need to nit it up!

Hope everything gets sorted at home

Sorry to read of the issues, but am 100% behind whatever you decide to do.  Family/personal matters have to come first.

Hope all works out OK.
