Players have asked for a 60 min clock, the comp takes 28-30 levels, its something we are doing for Oct.
We are trying something different after the £500k gte in sept. boredom sets in when we do the same thing every month with so much more choice available nowadays. It's a balance of course.
Over the year, there is plenty of variety at DTD, although its hard to please everyone, every day, every week, every month
We try
We all know DTD tries hard to please with the comps.
Not sure if boredom is a factor for the players if the deepstack is the same each month, in fact if it's regular and familiar I think people appreciate that.
The old £300 used to be the same every month, and attracted lots of runners who knew it'd be run on the first weekend of every month, with the same satellites, etc. Obviously, things change and with the competition DTD can't remain stagnant, but some regularity in terms of the monthly deepstack will help improve numbers imo. Sometimes too much variety and too many choices can be detrimental. Maybe it's too much of a good thing, and people start taking it for granted?
With the £500 - hour levels are good, no Day 1 on Saturday isn't good for a lot of people who work mon-fri. But you can't have both.

Simon always performs miracles with these events but I do agree with Dan here. I would imagine that the majority of players will have to take a day off work for this and am not sure they will do this. The majority of people playing the traditional deepstacks play the Saturday.
Please don't listen to the people requesting an hour clock making it a 3 day comp because these will be the same people who wanted the wsop sats. No one in their right mind wants to play a 3 day comp instead of a 2 day comp. The vast majority of your punters want to play over the sat/Sunday ainec.

All of this. Sometimes less is more. Grand prix, Super 50, £100, £150, £200 super size, £500 high roller, Chipleader, CPP, £500 deepstack, etc etc, With so much on offer it is jus too easy to think "I dont feel like it today, but it doesnt really matter cos I can jus play somethin next week instead." so I end up not going at all. My favourite time at DTD was the £300 when everyone new exactly when and what it would be. It was the highlight of the month and every one looked forward to it and felt they couldnt miss it cos it would be a whole month till the next 1. Fwiw I think 1 regular big comp per month alongside a set and rigid regular schedule with monte carlo or similar a couple times a year is perfect. People like familiarity and to know what their plans are. If it aint broke dont fix it. <3 DTD

After 6 weeks of Trumps Travels and playing the EPO this week i have managed to convince Rob and Nick to try a 1hr clock on the £500 Deepstack, with 30,000 chips and our Festival structure it adds a day which means we need to do the day 1's...Thu / Fri starting at 2pm but as the GPS and GUKPT also do this i don't see a problem.
40 minutes is probably the minimum you need for a decent experience but having played the events above i believe 1hr makes a difference without the need for a huge starting stack.
Not everyone can afford £500 so we are also running a £150 Deepstack Fri to Sun alongside the £500, this will have a 40 minute clock throughout and use the same starting stack of 30,000 and festival structure.
There will also now be a 45 minute dinner break at 6.15.
The £150 and £500 both start at 2pm with late reg for 7 levels so 7.45pm in the £150 and 10.15pm in the £500.
Re entry will be available but only into Day 1b of each event.
£500 is guaranteed at £100,000 and £150 is guaranteed at £30,000
Full details can be found here, any questions let me know.

I'll be interested to see how this pans out, and how the £150 affects the numbers in the £500. The good news for DTD here is the guarantees are good, yet unlikely to break the bank.
If I was playing (i'm not, busy) I would choose the £150. A bit more affordable and playing over 2 days is better than 3 as I have to travel.
(Simon, the website link says a 30 minute clock for the £150 as opposed to the 40 minutes you state here)

30k starting stacks and a 1 hour clock is my favourite structure. It would be good to see this at least once a quarter.
I also think it would be nice to have a regular schedule, whatever that is. A monthly Deepstack is a must IMO.

Friday is gonna be far more popular than Thursday just as Saturday is more popular than the Friday on regular deepstack weekends. Can I ask why the 2pm start which means that people with jobs have to book a holiday or sick day this time. Obv I just need a pass out from the wife but 5 of the guys I travel with have 9-5's.
Edit. Just seen on the poshboy diary that the eureka team are in Latvia for this so you are gonna lose a few of the guys that are gonna ante up £500 on a Thuursday school day and then re enter too. 9/10 you get there but this has to be a scarey weekend. Need 200 for the £500 (which i think will fall short) and 200 for the £150 (which should easily get there).

A 1 hour clock means a 2pm start is a must, playing 9 levels + breaks unless we schedule players to play to 3am etc. However, people can late reg up to 10.15pm and still get 50BB, and more importantly for people who do not want to take a day off work, players who arrive up to 6.15pm will get at least 100BB and 8.00pm 75BB.
The Day 1's late reg / bb at each level /time are;
2.00pm - 3.00pm Level 1 50-100 (300BB)
3.00pm - 4.00pm Level 2 100-200 (150BB)
15 min break
4.15pm - 5.15pm Level 3 150-300 (100BB)
5.15pm - 6.15pm Level 4 150-300 (100BB)
45 min break
7.00pm - 8.00pm Level 5 200-400 (75BB)
8.00pm - 9.00pm Level 6 250-500 (60BB)
15 min break
9.15pm -10.15pm Level 7 300 - 600 (50BB)
15 min break
End of Late Reg
We have tried to make this event as comfortable as possible, personally I would prefer to join a comp at 100BB, but everyone has different strategies, either way, the 1 hour clock allows people who dont want to take a day off work, to still get a very playable stack. It's a trial, I can't ignore the requests from players who have asked me for a 60 minute clock for the Deepstack, we did a huge £500 event last month, so this seemed like a good opportunity to try something a little different. We do not expect many re-entries, when we have restricted re-entry to ---> Day 1B only, its only 5% - 10% of the Day 1A field that uses the option to re-enter. One of the mail reason for my recent tour, was to get more feedback and suggestions outside of the Club which would give us new ideas to try and keep things fresh.
We have 50,000 members, we have do do different things to keep as many people happy as possible, we are different to another venue or a tour, we do poker events 52 weeks a year, I am sure we cater for everyone over thise 52 weeks, we certainly try to, if the Thu/Fri 60 min clock isnt popular, it will have tried and failed!
Cheers Aces

Sounds more than reasonable but I would counter that the 9-5 ers won't want to late reg a £500 tourney and just play the £150 on the Saturday. I think you lose more players than you gain with this change.
The thing I like about Dtd is that you and Rob like to look after all the players and listen to everyone's opinion from the £10 tourney players to the hi rollers. It will be interesting to see how many of the players from your travels play Octobers deepstack.
You always seem to pull the proverbial rabbit out of the hat so good luck again.
