By the way Ant - unlucky Boro couldn't bink a winner last night - I was rooting for you for a £5k win!

We all were!

Not quite all of us, I did think of you and the Palace bet last night so well done on that one.  Palace continue to surprise, and in this league, consistency is the key.  Up to 10 teams could win this league, and Palace for me, are now 1 of them.

As for our chances, well, an outside chance of nicking a play off place is possible, but before a ball was kicked this season, I would have been happy with 10th.  This season is about integrating all the new signings with a real push next season.

Who's going to win the league?  Before last night I would have said Cardiff, but now retract that.

I would say Middlesbrough are best poised to win the league and they should be favourites. I would like to add that i think the only reason Palace are in contention is that the relegated teams haven't bonded properly after going down and the other hopefuls just aren't matching previous years' standards for top of the table sides.

That is my view, as i don't see how we can possibly be seen as the best team in the league currently when we don't do much special. We are just a solid workmanlike team, with two tricky wingers.

If Cardiff, Blackburn, Wolves, Bolton or any other big side jelled a lot better than they already have, then we wouldn't be in with a shout.

Would you guys agree that the standard for teams at the top of the table have dropped a little? Or are Palace currently making things look easy because we are superior? I bloody doubt the latter.

The Championship has no stand out team this year

Not a year where a Newcastle, WBA or a West Ham are going to win it by 15 points.

Blackburn are in a state of flux, Bolton too, Wolves changed manager. All competitive sides but none goning to run away with it

So I would say the standard of the top six is slightly below par, but the depth in the Championship is stronger

More teams are well funded (and with big fan bases, very difficult to go to Hillsborough, Elland Road etc) , and capable of beating the top teams in the table at any point

This is one of the things that makes the Championship interesting, and this year more than most

I also have a theory that is proving profitable this year, in that players particularly strikers who 10-15 years ago would have been playing in the top flight aren't these days as most Premiership teams look abroad. This means there are players in the Championship who once might not have been

eg For every Kone at Wigan, Pogrebnyak at Reading, Cisse at QPR, Benteke at Villa there results in a striker that is in the Championship for first team football.....

In that the squeeze is felt more in strikers than defenders, there is a mismatch in ability and this leads to higher goals per game and more excitement

Allied to that gone are the days when lots of managers turn up, put 10 behind the ball away and look for a point. Because the division is so competitive teams need to look for away wns, and you can see that in a higher incidence of away wins this season compared to prior ones

Solid info, thanks for sharing.

I don't know quite what else to add to that other than I have just been well informed.

£100 on Cardiff Boro Palace treble. Just over 8/1

£450 on Palace and Charlton DnB. Just under 5/1

Feeling good about tomorrow, I will be in attendance as well. Never been to London Road (Peterborough) before if anyone can share details about the place?

Terracing for away end, normally a great atmosphere if the away end is full

The posh were perhaps the worst team i have ever seen play based on their performance at the Amex during the week.

Still be pretty sure we're going down, although never say never under Fergie Jnr. Bristol City are worse than us though tbf.

Incoming text from Chompy @ 15.55.

"What price Palace to win on Betfair? God knows how we are one up".

I'm constitutionalising, & don't reply until 16.30, with the score still 1-0 to Peterborough.

"13.5".

I don't get a reply.......

This was like my worst result of the year.  Had a big bet on Posh @3.20, topped up at 2.35 dnb, layed palace big for firm and just to add insult to injury the late goals knocked my beloved Boro off the top of the league.  I am heading back next month for a lads day out to the Posh - Boro game....i might take petrol and matches!!!!

Ahahaha, we were totally owned from start to finish. Palace should have won by half a dozen. It's only because we're a stubborn bunch at the back these days and have a quality keeper that we stayed in it for so long.

Anyone who slammed Ant's 8-1 about Palace getting promoted without having seen the team play...hang your head in shame!

This lot will take some stopping.
