I think he had to change his stance and throw due to injury problems caused by the way he used to lean over.

Agree about him overachieving. He ran good in a couple of majors which got him in to the top 10 and he was then able to perform to that ranking by making QF's regularly.

Yes he had a terrible action anyway before injury and his original action might have caused the injury as he always looked so unbalanced and jocky wilson like at times throwing and snatching.  Looking at his record in majors it's incredible he ever got as high in the rankings as he did tbh.  He never even had a Thorn/Whitlock major one off bink winning a TV major or getting to the worlds final etc.

I think Thornton at his best is/was a legit top player, he used to be a big 180 man and very reliable finisher, especially on dbl top. Last year or so he's been ~25% doubling and that's not going to get anything done :-(

Standard of people coming up 32-16 now is pretty strong, high can't expect to stay in the top 16 long without a decent grind and consistently good performances.

Only just watched the final of the MP, amazing really from Taylor, he has no form really that suggested he was capable of producing this performance. Toughest draw and he obliterated it, we rarely see utter domination of a tournament like this, with the best 32 players in the world.

If he plays like that again, with MVG distracted by his kid being born, PW off his game a bit and garry being a bit unreliable he could defo ship another major before he quits

What has happened to Cory Cadby?

He decided against moving to the UK to try get his tour card grind the tour this year, but I think he intends to give it a go. Hopefully we see him qualify for the Perth and Melbourne masters and get to see how he's getting on.

yep, Corey Cadby qualified for the Aukland, Melbourne and Perth Masters events this month. He was automatically into the Aussie ones as Aus Dart Player #1 and qualified for Aukland.

No MVG so the 8 PDC guys are:

Garry Anderson
Peter Wright
Phil Taylor
James Wade
Daryl Gurney
Raymond van Barnevald
Micheal Smith
Simon Whitlock

Kyle Anderson gets a wildcard spot in both as highest ranked Aussie not already in there.

Kyle Anderson, Simon Whitlock, Daryl Gurney and Micheal Smith the only ones who came to play the Players Championships this weekend, Kyle Anderson just fired a 9 darter in!

I would have thought Wade missing any ProTour event without the big dogs is pretty stupid, Micheal Smith must be loving it, hes £500 ahead of the two guys below him and neither of them played this weekend. Can't really blame Jelle who didn't look like he should be playing in Blackpool but i'm guessing Wade's reasoning is that he is getting ready for travelling to AUS.

It's a heavy schedule coming up, 3 weeks in Aus, then a euro tour straight away after, another the following weekend, the champs league the week after then another euro tour, a weekend of payers champs then the grand prix.  Be interesting to see if MVG comes back for the CL or the euro tours, and if Chizzy and Mensur go to play both euros. Peter Wright is the only person who is likely to try play everything and at 47~ surely thats got to be a terrible idea with this heavy a schedule. Lewis might be really fancying that as he's not in AUS or likely to play any of the euro tours.

That result doesn't do Gurney's chances and harm.
