This has just gotten very, very exciting Smiley

Barney must think the waves have parted for him, the form book said his path the semis was going to be K.Anderson, Rob Cross, MVG...now it's gonna be K.Anderson, Steve Beaton, Alan Norris/Big Hendo - Chizzy, Cullen, Gurney who I think we can agree were the most impressive 3 today, he'll only have to play 1 of them.

Chizzy is currently #7 and £50k behind Adrian Lewis #4 who has £200k to defend between now and the Worlds and £10k behind Mensur in #6 with a tougher draw, he'll be looking at this and see it's a real chance to chase down world #4 by the end of the year, with Garry defending £300k at Xmas. Big chance for Chizzy, by exactly the same logic, Mensur could be making a run at the top 4 (or even 3.)

Michel Smith had a pretty average year, some brilliant moments but mostly just disappointing. He's #11 £50k away from the top 6 and £40k ahead of #16, Jelle #10 already out, Wade #9 tough draw and bang out of form, Gurney #12 has a tough draw, Kim #13 already out, if he wants to make his move back and push for top 6, with Phil retiring and Lewis almost gtd to drop a ton of money, even though his draw is full of tricky players, he'll be favourite against any of them and I think this is kind of a MUST-SEMI FINAL event for Smith.

At the same time, Whitlock (#16 £258k) and Benito (#14 £265k) are in the same 1/4 surrounded in the draw by people near them in the rankings will have a great chance to try and push towards the top 10.

Tough to call as the 3 best performances today, Cullen, Gurney, Chizzy are all in the same quarter, I'm gonna give chizzy the nod to take that quarter as he gets the easier 2nd round game, you just HAVE to fancy Barny for the top 1/4 so I say...

Barny vs Chizzy (semi final 1)

It's all very interesting!

expanding on one note on the rankings...

Lewis, has over £200k (Players final £35k, Euro semis £17.5k, World finals £150k) to defend this year and only has the Grand Slam, the Players finals the worlds to make any serious money, if he only cashes for £100k in that period he'll drop to £300k in ranking money which as of today would have him outside the top 10...

The players championships he's seeded #25 and that pro tour rankings is so competitive he's almost guarenteed a bad draw, the grand slam is a bit hit and miss and the short format and group stages don't really suit him, the worlds usually makes it pretty straightforward for the top seeds to reach the 3rd round but if he gets a bad draw in the grand slam and cant get it going in the worlds or the players....tough to see where even £100k is gonna come from, if he only cahses for £75k that would put him today in at #14 and anything less than £60k in that period and he's out of the top 16. This is before we account for the players around the bottom of that top 16 moving up.

He's in big trouble, I think he's a huge dog to be in the top 12 by the end of the season and I think the chance of dropping out of the top 16 is very, very real. The guys #20-#10 are all playing week in week out darts and are defending so much less prize money

Fascinating read Dave. Was really impressed with Cullen today - looked calm, relaxed when things weren't going his way. Has he finally sorted his TV demons out?

Interestingly, I also make Chizzy favourite for the 1/4 but think the winner of the Gurney/Cullen game will beat him - does that make sense? He performed way above his normal doubling stats last night and can't see him maintaining it.

I think it's really hard to not root for chizzy, when he talks you wonder how he ever gets himself dressed in the morning but he wears his heart on his sleeve and his 180 powers make him so entertaining.

If he has a season where he goes 40% on doubles and fixes the big stage snatch where he loses his rhythm and starts hitting all the 1s & then he'll threaten in every major.

Like you say if he keeps a 50% in 40% out stats for the tournament then he's gonna take some stopping!!! Can he do it though? Hmmm. Seems unlikely in all honestly, he's never really done anything to show us that he's capable of maintaining his A game throughout an entire tournament. No Phil, Garry, MVG though...

Go on chizzy!!!!!!!!

Chizzy spotted recently in a dingy Blackpool 'casino' pissed out his little mind and unable to count chips.

Lol - how does he get through the day?

Surprised he didn't go to one of the non-dingy ones....

We all know Suljovic loves the D14

Will leave it at every opportunity right?

Just wondering peoples thoughts on D14 to be winning double at 12/1 with coral. As low as 4/1 elsewhere (sportingbet)

cant be bad ^^^^ !!!

Another potential spot is the Kist/Whitlock game, D18 14/1 and 25/1 - both these two leave D18 quite a bit
