Yes its quite surprising how low the variance seems to be over a 4 day shootout in best of 9 leg games across four rapid fire events. The best players do seem to routinely get through. Waites and Duzza would have been top 32 operators at worst for the last 5 years if they had moved over. I was tempted to pay the £450 and turn up myself for a jolly up for the weekend. There must be a few dozen of total chancers who have done that and just treat it as a laugh.

The fact that there is the Order of Merit for those that don’t get an automatic card means the cream generally gets through. A couple of deep runs is usually enough to get a card.
Sky have a market but only offering the one side. Obv no one can get on but they go 4/7 Duzza to get a card which I think is a massive price. He’s head and shoulders above the rest of the field. Williams 2/1 also decent.

I’d be a backer at 1/4. I make him a 1/6 shot. Unless he has forgotten to play darts since the weekend he will cruise through on the bridle. Was back in work Monday morning so not like he has been out on the piss since winning. Look at how MVG eats up the Pro Tour events and the variance in ability level there is a lot shallower than at Q school. At least half of the field don’t have a prayer of getting a card. McKinstry 3/1 and Whitehead 4/1 also big based on Lakeside form. They also have the advantage of being match sharp. Most of the others won’t have thrown a competitive dart for weeks.

You have to make big scoring waites a bet at 2/1 as well then? Only his doubles really let him down at the bdo over the week. He could have bundles of shots at doubles against these lads.

Yeah Waites is good too, all of the BDO boys are value with the possible exception of a McGeeney but the fact it’s not on stage is a positive for him.

The 'fitness' edge for the bdo boys going deeep last week must be massivel With Duzza as well if he doesn't get a card there is the outside chance Bazza gifts him one after q school. Skybet's wording is a tour card not to win one at q school so you could be weighed in two ways. No way bazza won't want duzza there next year being first 3 time bdo back to back to back winner since Bristow. Two ways to win.

There’s also no pressure on them this year with BDO changing their rules meaning that if they don’t get a card they can still play the bdO Tour and make Lakeside. That must be a huge positive mentally knowing that it’s effectively a freeroll, rather than having the pressure of having to win a card or being left in limbo and having to make do with the Challenge Tour and Euro Tour qualifiers.
