I spoke to Nirvana about this a couple of weeks ago. I believe the tie in with DTD is what's holding Blonde back. I know its a double edged sword and that Blonde need the sponsorship but there is definitely too much censorship.
I love DTD and I love Blonde but I can't see Blonde getting the depth and breadth back while its neck is being throttled.
Its neck is not being throttled!
The relationship with DTD goes back to 2006-07 when Rob diarised the battle he had to open the club
Personal relationships go back further than that
Upsides to the support of blonde by DTD and our access in there far outweigh any downsides (such as not updating other tours, and less coverage of things like the GPS)
I haven't posted on blonde in months but come on, read what you are saying Rich - do you REALLY believe that? Blonde is on DTD's leash and you know it.
Some months ago I was banned from DTD. I turned up one night at the front desk and was refused entry. I was told 'Rob had a note put in the system that I was to be banned for life'. I put up a thread here asking why. I didn't swear, I didn't call anyone names, I just asked a question in the direction of the forum sponsors. In fact, given that Rob had allowed someone to use his account to play tournaments that accumulated chips in a live tournament he was meant to play, I'd say he was more of a banworthy candidate than me by a country mile, that is if it wasn't his club and things were fair. But life isn't fair.
Maybe he didn't like me highlighting things that DTD was doing wrong, but incase anyone thinks I was just setting out to troll the club I'd bet anyone who wants to bet against me that I can find just as many posts if not more where I praise the club.

I doubt there were many members who cared more about blonde or contributed more to the forum than me for a long period of time. Yet I wasn't even allowed to ask a question. If the same incident had happened at Full House, Big Slick, The International Club or any other privately owned poker club there's no way my post would have been removed. There's no way the owner wouldn't have received the deserved criticism from Tikay, Tighty and mods and members of the forum.
I'm not saying I can't understand why you didn't. But I don't agree with it and by doing what you did, you shut me out of the forum. I'm sure other members feel the same.
Are you back in Thailand Cos? if not WHY not?

However, I don't really see how the sponsorship is holding back Blonde? I don't think that there would be much difference between the forum now and without sponsorship.
Without sponsorship the chances are there would be no forum at all.

Wheyyy cos!
I like many others have bitten my tongue hundreds of times over this issue. Losing Cos was a disaster in my eyes that should have never been allowed to happen, and the forum as suffered massively because of it, not just because of him, (he's pretty funny I guess but come on, no1s that's bothered
) but because of the message it sent.

Yes, I understand that.
Also, 50 new members a month? A lot of them do not contribute, some just popping up for updates every month which is a shame.

Is this true?
There would be no updates obv.
But i can't see many costs apart from hosting the forum.

I am a cost to blonde, covered by the sponsorship. So yes there would be a forum without any sponsorship, just a slightly different forum

What do you mean by a cost to blonde?
For live updates DTD/GUKPT/wherever can still hire? The value is obviously there.
I've no idea on the size of the forum vs say the next 10-15 poker forums in the UK, but they don't have sponsorship and run v well. It is purely because of the amount of posts here? I also think there are a lot more people on this forum who are likely to dip into their pocket if needed than the other 10-15.

I am paid a monthly fee, and the sponsorship covers this. I manage the Ltd co that owns the forum, the sponsorship relationship(s), advertising when required, promotional stuff when required, do live updates from within the sponsorship payment, manage the main site when I can write for it, do the social media
Prior to this blonde had its own card-room, and has been sponsored since, as setting up a new card-room skin was not an option and ther affiliate route was tricky with most members already being hooked up to most offers.
I try not to work out an hourly rate, personally. Put in way more than I get back.

the biggest and most successful is the hendon mob. Successful. Sponsored and always has been
some of the others include AWOP, Punters Lounge etc. All have income whether that is sponsorship, affiliate streams etc
Many others are regional and not looking to be commercial
