He's not on the radar of the mainstream media, but Dan Mclay should get more of a mention. Three top ten finishes so far is no mean feat for the young Brit riding for the Pro Conti team, Fortuneo - Vital Concept. Earlier in the year he pulled off a remarkable sprint finish in the GP de Denain - Porte du Hainaut.

A sprint stage today. Outsider, Dylan Groenewegen, cant be sure how he feels after a mountain stage, but was impressed at his finishing speed the other day.

Great updates as ever Tonji.    Struggled to have time to watch the last few grand tours but really getting in to this one. Cav looks like he's back to his best, so good to watch his hiding behind the other sprinters!

Your man Dan McLay in third today

Thanks Vic,

I was closely watching Groenewegen today, he got well positioned by his team, but was swamped in the last km & looked jaded.

I think Cav's wins this tour are not just pure speed but race craft. He just keeps getting the job done. Hope he can get that Gold in Rio he so desperately wants.

That was a mega result for Dan, a real boost to his belief he can mix it with the best.

60/40 a break can make it today imo. That's why Cummings is at a short 15/1. I'd be looking for 40/1 or better. I've gone Diego Rosa 100/1 EW. Form was good in the Dauphine. However, he may be called to work for Aru.

Great call on Cummings, even though he was priced low.

Thoughts on which of the GC contenders make a move over the next couple of days?

Tomorrow is likely the stage for the opening GC assault. I'd expect the full Sky mountain train on max.

I can't decide if another break will win. Maybe, with so many KOM points on offer.

Throw a few names on tonji, I like a bet on stages but am clueless in the main. Youre updates and info are great, cheers for the effort.

Bardet a big player if its a GC race finishing with that descent?

Really can't be much help John, had a brief look over coffee, & just blanked, nothing appealed. Probably fire up betty & in play later.

Yep Bardet looked for sometime yesterday, pretty sure he'll be active again today.
