I think last train back is about 0100 hrs, first one 0530 hrs.

During these hours its not a bad idea to go into Leicester Sq G casino. They have a 1/2 game on a blackjack table, so bizarrely 7 or 8 handed.  Every time I've gone in theres been a drunk chip daddy lording it over the other drunks.  Quite easy to clean them all out inside an hour or two.  Probs easiest 500 quid you'll ever make tbh.

Ah, just realised you're talking about the week ends so, as I'll only be a midweek player, the free parking option etc is inapplicable.  (Can't do week ends ever as work every Fri - Sun eves).

Does it matter? Will the extra £5 stop you going?

Maybe not, I admit, but I'm doing this on a shoestring so it all adds up.

I believe parking is 9 til 6 during weekdays for the commuter crowd.  That said, do you really think it's wise to be going to play poker in London on a shoestring? BRM and all that?

That said, I think you'll struggle to find anywhere to park for less than 20 quid a day (train far + car park).  Parking in London is awfully expensive - and this doesn't even guarantee the security of your car. The provinces it certainly is not.

If you want to swerve those costs then I'd just go park in the Vic and grind there all day.

I'm not concerned about BRM to be honest.  It's just a punt as I don't have much money spare, so likely to be a couple of hundred maximum and short stack a game to give me 3-4 bullets.  The Vic is a non starter.  Never liked the place 7 years back so not keen to revisit.  Just really want to have a cheap-ish crack at somewhere different.  If it blows up then nothing serious has happened, and if I get a result then, yippee.  Bit of fun at a reasonable price.  Way I see it; a lot of people think nothing of spending that much on a posh meal...

Sorry if sounded like a dig - just saying flicking in a fiver for parking shouldn't be even on the radar.  It's only 1 x straddle after all ;-)

I'd give the Vic a try.  Place has changed alot in 7 years.

That's OK mate, it was a clumsy attempt to clarify that I just have the odd session for recreation.  Normally I drive to the south coast but there are only ever a couple of games going there and they always feature the same regular faces who play there day in and day out.  Just nits really, and, at my time of life, I want to have the odd session with hopefully a little more fun.  Hence why I started this thread.

Normally, if I play £1/£2, then I tend to sit shortish rather than stick everything I'm prepared to lose on the table all at once.  Otherwise it could be good game after one hand!  That'd definitely be my last sortie.  I'm not scared money - I just don't have very much disposable income since the recession bit down hard.  The entertainment industry has suffered badly at grass roots level.  Should have done plumbing...

I appreciate your, (and everyone's), input though.  Thank you.

I see you 'come up the M3'.  How far West are you?

There's pretty decent action in Bristol now.  Since the UKIPT visited the cash games have improved alot - and there's a fair few action players there :-)

Also a cardroom in Swindon that has a fun cash game, lots of banter.

A303 area on Wilts/ Hants border so Bristol is as far as London.  Swindon room only has cash very very rarely from my enquiries so, although a closer distance, not what I really am looking for.  It'd be nice to go somewhere and have a choice of 10 games rather than 1 or 2.

Right gotcha. Swindon has 2 cash games a week sometimes 3. Onr of the lads just moved to Andover n still comes up if thats any use?

Might be; Andover is 6 miles from me.  Still going to be a potential problem re midweek/ number of tables/ hours, but worth bearing in mind.  Thanks.  Which Bristol casino out of interest?

Mate of mine always tells me that the cash games in Southampton are pretty lively, think it was the Harbourhouse  they play at and he used to be forever telling me to get up there during the week.

That's out of date info bud; game left there ages ago and migrated to Portsmouth.  There was a PLO game there that played huge (£6k pots) - way out of my league!

Ok, been a long time since I've been up there myself, and I've not spoken to him in a while thinking about it. The PLO game would have been what he was talking about though, so I guess that's where he is playing too now.

Yeah, rumour has it that the Portsmouth guy offered the 'game' a rake deal of £4 cap per pot; way better than what they were paying I imagine...

Bristol Gala. Genting trying to get a game going but it won't happen.  Firmly entrenched in Gala.

Yeah Southampton used to be good :-( Much quieter now but v v soft all the times I been.

If u come up Swindon solely for cash u r guaranteed a game. Theres a few action players too.

Pm me for details.

Thanks for your help.
