I'm very much looking forward to him catching me up and then over taking me.

One ambition I have got is for me and him to play The Trooper by Iron Maiden together, with him doing the Dave Murray left channel and me doing the Adrian Smith right channel. It's going to take quite a few years to get there, but that'll be fantastic.

Lot's of work to do in the mean time.

3 Months - Hell Ain't A Bad Place To Be

Still not worrying too much about accuracy. Plying the chords at the nut, rather than the broken chords further up the neck that Angus and Malcolm would. Still very much about enjoying jamming to the track.

The things I was happiest about in the performance where that he was having fun and even showing off a bit, that he got a bit lost but recovered, and best of all, that he lost his plectrum during the lead break and soldiered on. What a pro!

Going to try something a bit different next month. Maybe get some power chords going and try a different band to cover.

I did suggest piano, as you can't rest a pint on a guitar.

No, lead guitarist it will be Smiley

Considering a bit of NWOBHM next month
Living After Midnight to get the power chords going

Should still be doing a 4 month Video with Joe in a couple of weeks, although we've been super busy with other stuff so it might not be a full new song. More of a power chord exercise I think. We'll see how we go.

In the meantime, my band, Dynamite Billy played a couple of great gigs this weekend, including a local corperate gig / out door festival type thing, and there was some decent video taken.
If you like what you see, please go to www.facebook.com/dynamitebilly and give us a like.

Here's the video

5 Months - Kiss - Rock An Roll All Nite

Couple of months in between videos because we tried to add some power chords to the already learned chords at the nut. Joe's hands are so small though, he's finding it a real struggle. So we played this track with Joe playing root chords he already knows with small two string bars chords for the F and G in the bridges. We're going to build further on that next month. Got a few ideas for songs to work on with that.

I like Joe's confidence and attitude. He's got the makings of a real performer. Full of admiration for you.

Just a quick bump on this.
I've had a crazy six months with changes of role at work, selling the house and a painful exchange/move that had us living with most of our stuff packed for the last few months.

Settled in the new house and sort of unpacked, and the new house has a music room (shocking pink at the moment) so joe will be resuming his rock n roll journey soon.

After a bit of a refresher on what he learned in the summer, we're going to crack into some Bowling For Soup next .

At least 1 video by his birthday/anniversary of starting.

I feel like I've neglected him, not teaching him anything for 6 months, but on the other hand, he's only 8. It's not like time is against us.

He's listening to a lot of music, so he's sort of doing his homework.
