If I'm backing a horse now @ 4.0 for £100 but I want to lay it nearer off or in running what is the best way of doing it?

I.e should I just put one price/couple of prices in betfair and leave it in running, if so what prices and how much?

If I am looking to get my stake back and hopefully freeroll, I post at 2.06. and press the keep in running button. So often it doesn't quite get down to 2, for the exact freeroll.

Bar that its hard to say, as I dont know how much you want to try and make mate.

Others, I am sure will have other ideas.

Quite happy to get my stake back, have been looking at different options and considered what you have said so I may just go with it. Thanks Adz.

Was at Musselburgh races yesterday.  The second race was a five horse affair with a 2/5 fav, so I advised one of my friends that the best entertainment value was to back one of the other horses each way.  She obv picks the total rag and backs it at 25-1 which equally obv pishes in  Grin

This is the first and second doing battle over the last in the next race

Sunday's fabulous Leopardstown card with four group1 races must be touch and go after all of this weather. Let's hope it abates a little.

Cheeky moment...

One of the top dogs at work mentioned he's going to Uttoxeter on Saturday. He's not a big racing fan but is likely to have a bet or two.

Anyone have any views on anything? Bear in mind I like my job...

Really taken by Seeyouatmidnight just now. Beat a 144 horse fair and square and really good attitude. Shame he's not entered at Cheltenham but Ima following this lad.

Does Mr Segal give you a call before writing his Weekender column, Chompy?

No sir, did he mention this future champion?

Yeah, in his column from this week he was highly impressed by it as well.

WITH the emergence of the super stables like the Mullins, Nicholls and Henderson yards, it is not easy for a small trainer to get hold of a top-class horse anymore. In the past there were numerous tales of the farmer with a couple of horses finding a Cheltenham winner, but this is going to get increasingly more difficult and Hunt Ball is the only one to spring to mind from recent times.

However, every now and then a horse comes along who catches my imagination and Seeyouatmidnight for Sandy Thomson is just such a horse. Twice he’s run over hurdles this season and twice he’s won at massive prices, beating long odds-on shots easily.

Last Sunday he ran right away from Racing Pulse in a course-record time at Musselburgh and he finished full of running. He’s really athletic and, barring accidents, is going to make up into a top-class horse sooner rather than later.

Someone asked me to price up the 2018/9 NH jockey's Championship

This was my rough guess..

3/1 Twiston-Davies
4/1 Maguire
6/1 Coleman
6/1 Scudamore
8/1 Jacob
8/1 Johnson
12/1 McCoy
12/1 Cooper
16/1 Mullins

Anyone want to have a crack at this/or spotted any obvious mistakes in my list?

Cant see Johnson or McCoy still riding then.
Nick Scholfield will surely be in the list.
Cant see both Cooper and Mullins over here, as I expect one will get the Mullins/Meade job when Ruby/Carberry retires and someone will want to stay for the Gigginstown Gig. If Townend gets overlooked, he could be over here too.
Touchy Fehily should be in there
Scudamore will surely be found out by then .
Wayneo will be in there, and I expect Ryan Mania to be the new J Maguire and rule the north
Up and comers Harry Skelton/Richie McLernon/Tom Garner/Josh Moore, may well be figuring too.

All IMHO of course!

Fehily is older than Johnson!

Much as I think he's gone, Johnson has had an amazing career and if AP didn't exist he would be lauded as the best jockey ever.

He's over 2 years younger than AP will surely keep going for one season after the champ retires so he can win one at least!

McCoy shouldn't still be riding then, but the geezer is incredible. I wouldn't want to lay him at 12/1!

Townend is a good shout, so is Josh Moore.

Thanks Adzy.
