In making that finding, I stress that the threshold of liability for negligence is a high
one and has been determined as made out in this case, on its own particular facts. The
finding does not set a precedent either within horse-racing or in sport generally

hmmm seems like a "don't bother appealing" statement directed at presumably Gibbons' insurers.

The problem is that the current rules allow a horse to keep a race, if it interferes with other horses, unless one of those horses is in close contention.  That means that avoiding interference is a lesser consideration to getting into contention in many jockeys' scale of priorities.  I can't see the BHA ignoring that when considering the judgement.

The judgement was a fascinating read. For those that don’t want to read the whole thing, Gibbons was found guilty by dint of his persistent refusal to give ground to Tylicki’s mount, there being an initial contact prior to the second, catastrophic contact.

This hasn’t been a good year for the sport. Let’s hope that 2022 will see some improvement....

Monsieur Lecoq(or "Lecoe" as EdC prefers to pronounce it)looks to have a very decent chance in tomorrow's 1.50pm at a working-man's price.

Has winning form on soft going, races off a mark 18lbs below its one of two seasons ago and just turned 8yo.

What's not to like about double-figure prices.

Ran an absolute stinker of a race.

The extreme underfoot conditions didn't help.

Cork's own Frankie!

Hopefully he can sort himself out, as he has a long career ahead of him if he wants it.

Just saw someone slagging off Serpentine's derby... again.

I did genuinely think that he would go on to better things.

Anyway, there were 3 subsequent Group 1 winners thrashed by Serpentine that day, including one of my favourites in training.  Can anyone name them?  Will even help by including a video of the race

Mogul is right.  Kameko was prior to the Derby, only won a group 2 afterwards.   Still two to go.

A good guess, but it's not right. As Roy used to say.

I never have paid much attention to flat racing, so would take me a week Cheesy

Bump

4 runners in the Betfair Chase and 4 in the 1965 Chase at Ascot. Pretty depressing National Hunt outside Cheltenham these days, but not quite as depressing as watching some video on Twitter of a walkover in a Warwick novice chase accompanied by someone moaning about the lack of Novice Chases!
