7/1 Looks big?
Can't imagine it will shorten anymore between now and Cheltenham, so probably best waiting, and hoping that it buckets down just before the Tuesday.
Disagree with this.
If Ruby chooses Hurricane he'll be far shorter.

He won't choose until the very last minute.

What odds he chooses The Fly though you think, Marky/Keith?
Can't see anything other than Faugheen, unless its injured or totally bottomless.
The wait is out of respect, I reckon.
Townend must be licking his lips!

What odds he chooses The Fly though you think, either/both of you?
Is it 48 hours before the race they make final decs?
I'd guess that he takes Faugheen, unless it's heavy, and not looking like improving.

I would be surprised if he deserts The Fly as he'll only run on minimum G/S.

I think Faugheen is the probably the easier ride, so maybe Mullins will lean on Ruby to ride the Fly as he gets on so well for him.
Although Ruby might be more tempted to ride the jolly as the owner has such a galaxy of stars.
Tough to say maybe 60:40 he rides Faugheen.

I knew of Rich Ricci when he was at Barclays capital.
Made gazillions, obsceenely so even by the standards of the pre-credit crunch days and then his star fell dramatically when he was pushed out, a bit of a poster boy for the corporate excesses of the time
i gather a lot of the Mullins horses are his
where would Mullins be without him? a decent trainer, or a star trainer?
they all need the firepower right?

Interesting.
Townend has ridden The Fly 7 times before and won on him 6 times, so I would actually say the argument is the opposite.
The last time Townend rode a Ricci superstar, he lost Vautours unbeaten record.

He was Ireland's star NH trainer before Ricci started taking horses to him.

Walsh said that he would decide 3 days before the race.

Can get 5/1 on him riding the Fly, with PP.

That's about how I would price it. Sentiment won't make up for watching Faugheen trotting past him down the chute with the Blue riband round his neck!

I just hope Mullins wins the Arkle/JLT/Champ/Mares
Had to bin my 40/1 double on Vautour/Faugheen though...

That is a surprising stat.
I had no idea Townend had ridden him so often.
Still, 5/1 looks massive Ruby rides him.
