Kieth:
Initially the plan was to have 3 "1st round matches" (would b 3x 16 match, all UK vs Irl) accumulating points then the top 8 progress to a KO format drawing as UK vs Irl as much as possible (might be 1 Irl vs Irl or Eng vs Eng or w/e) and points based on finishing positions for the team standings.
The it was pointed out that this would take ages so the structure was adjusted to a straight knockout comp, with points awarded to the team based on each players finishing position, and whoever got the most points would be the winning team and the players were playing for individual prizemoney. The draw was always adjjusted so it would be IRL vs UK wherever possible. There was a ton of banter going on between the matches, everyone was taking it pretty liberally lots of us were drinking pretty heavily lol and it was actually a great laugh. would have been better if more irish guys made it to the last 8 so we could sweat the team results, but still a good laugh..
I've played in a couple of team heads up events and the rail when the scores were close with just a 2 or 3 matches remaining was amazing.
Think probably teams of 16 were a little too big, but if you had two teams of 8, you could have had 32 heads up games (forget about this best of 3 malarky) and make them turbos - it wouldn't have taken too long at all.
Just seemed this format was making something very easy to organise too complicated.
But if everyone had a good laugh that's the most important thing.

For the UKIPT we are offering a free service from Dublin Airport terminal 1 at the following times on a specially branded Full Tilt Poker bus with complimentary beers and we are even working on having Sit & Go tournaments available throughout the journey:
Wednesday 7th 18.30 Coach bay Dublin airport terminal 1 Direct to Galway City Centre
Thursday 8th 13.00 Coach bay Dublin airport terminal 1 Direct to Galway City Centre
Thursday 8th 19.30 Coach bay Dublin airport terminal 1 Direct to Galway City Centre
Well this sounds pretty good and flying to Dublin is cheaper. How do I guarantee myself and my friends a seat on this coach?
Hi,
Email
ukipt@pslive.com
to reserve your seat (FAO Jamie).
If anyone is looking to book a last minute trip to the races/poker festival we have a great deal on The G Hotel for €150 per night double occupancy B&B for any nights between now and the 12th (anyone who has been to Galway this time of year will know how cheap that is).
PM if interested.

Likewise Jamie, was fun....and at least SDWKDave as he is know known (stop drinking with kidneys Dave) did us proud. Very unlucky for the artist formerly known as Lil Dave, great effort.

€1m guaranteed for the main event.
I've just checked - 119 qualifiers and direct buyins from FT and 184 from Stars.
Anyone know how many from DTD?
Anyone else running sats?
It's looking like a big overlay is possible (although Stars always seems to conjure up players at the last minute when overlays look like happening!)

I did wonder about the huge guarantee in a place tough to get to (for most)
Might need to plan a last minute driving trip

I always underestimate the amount of runners for tournaments with a guarantee.. but surely a ceiling of 750 or so is likely.
250k overlay if so!

I dont get the problem keith? It's abit of banter and gives the event some extra spice a marketing. If there was a HU sng tournament would it have got 64 runners? Would jake Cody, Matt perrins, Claypole and other big names go To Galway and be there for 10 days before ukipt started?
Great marketing IMO and banter seems fun as well.
Don't understand why it was marketed as GB v Ireland if it was a straight knockout tournament.
They was even a GB v Ireland score on the website. Which was redundant as all the Irish lads were busted out.
Could have been a great craic if it really was GB v Ireland as advertised, but as it was, it was just another tournament.
Obviously Gus has an Oirish grandma or something...
He was playing for England.
