Been at least three pages since I last mentioned The Shield

Sopranos
Lost
Friday Night Lights
Wire
Breaking Bad

Are my top 5, but there are quite a few that sit a notch or two below them.

No chance. I was one of the original people trying to get others to watch the Shield.

The noughties will be remembered for three shows: Sopranos, Wire and Shield.

Anyway, this is the wrong thread for that. Apologies if my Sherlock love/whinge has pushed you all over here instead!

The Shield or Homicide: Life on the Street next if you've done the Wire and BB.

Milligan has been banging on about The Shield for years, but I still won't have it.

Good show, excellent at times, but not up there with the big guns, imo.

Sopranos
Lost
Friday Night Lights
Wire
Breaking Bad

I know nothing of Friday Night Lights but given the other four are likely to be in my top five (currently watching and loving the sopranos) I think I will have to check it out.

Might seem strange, but it's probably my favourite show ever, and I have seen it a few times now.

I've told quite a few of my mates to give it a spin, expecting them to come back with a 'how can you watch that shit', but they've all loved it.

Definitely my favourite American drama. I tolerate shows almost out of politeness sometimes. Some just go up and down. Once I've started them, I feel guilty about stopping part way. Dexter had to go. Prison Break I went all the way with and some of it was a bit daft. The Walking Dead has gone. Boardwalk Empire is on the edge. I need far more Al Capone and Arnold Rothstein.

Did you know much about American football beforehand?

I'm much the same, and it's very rare I will quit anything whilst it's running. The last one I did was 30 Rock, but they finished it a season later, so I may give it a go at some point.

I persevered with Dexter, even though it gradually declined. I'm saving TWD until it's over, or until I've nothing else to watch. Prison Break was amazing S1, good , and then just got worse with time.

Rothstein is probably the best character in BE,  and it will be interesting to see where things go from next season.
