Harold 'Kato' Lee?

anyone recall this 'unique' individual.

If it's who I'm thinking of, once followed me into Gutshot toilets and watched me piss saying I should be a male model

Yes that is Kato!

He used to wear a selection of different school uniforms/blazers etc and was absolutely enamoured by anyone under 20.

One of the first places I used to start playing was the 77 Club in Hendon every now and again because they would let anyone play and round there was a bunch of Jewish kids with money so several 15/16/17 year olds would play and Kato certainly put the chills in a few of them. Hopefully that's all he put in them.

Probably the single most strange character I've ever shared a table with.

Way to make a guy feel special

so good

I doubt there will be many people who know that name on Blonde Ralph. I will ask about him when I return to the UK in August . Always enjoyed his company . Talking of Louis , how about Stephen Au Yung

Those machines in Clarke's shoe shops where you stuck your feet in the bottom and looked through the binocular type things on top to see a green x-ray shot of your feet in the shoes so your mum could see if they were a good fit.

He was the guy who bought the domain names camelpoker.com and keiththecamel.com and attempted to sell them to me for £10,000.

He will be alright.

Lol the fruit buffet. Always thought it was the weirdest thing to serve up to the motley crew of unhealthy bastards at the final table.

any news on dave compton tony?

Sort of, Rick.

Two part answer, here's part one.

A guy who worked for Ch 861, Sky Poker TV, told me about a year or so ago that he had seen Dave in Bishops Stortford (where he used to, or hopefully still does, live) 3 times in a week. This guy knew Dave almost as well as I did, he worked with Compo on dozens of TV Shows.

He was 100% certain it was Dave, but when he tried to catch Dave's attention, Dave looked away. He said Dave had grown a long, full facial, beard. Dave simply would not acknowledge, or make eye contact.

That sort of makes sense to me. He'd probably want to sever all connections with his past life, I don't know, but it would make sense.

Dave got himself in a hole - there but for the grace of God go you or me - & it caused all sorts of bad blood with his family, & others.

I think he eventually faced the music & came home. I hope he did anyway.

For the record, I adored Dave, he was a great mate to me, & he was an immensely talented guy. He could turn his hand to TV work on horse racing or poker with equal aplomb, & he had the perfect voice for commentary & analysis.

I still miss him very much, we were extremely close, & we have a few secrets which will remain exactly that. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas sort of thing.

I hope he is in good heart, & all is well with him & his family.

Compo, part two.

There is a Twitter account in his name. You can be the judge if you think it's really him. If it is, Dave has changed a lot.

His Profile says.....

Ex At the Races best presenter, now play cards for a living.

Ex ATR Presenter? True.

Best presenter? True.

Plays cards for a living? Do me a favour, he could no more play cards for a living than I could.

Read the tweets, he tweets about coming fifth for £110 in a tenner rebuy, & "won a 6 seater £20 turbo". Is that consistent with someone who plays cards for a living? I don't think so.

Or these 2 Tweets.....

Oi fucking oi, had the nuts against some ipod wearing non entity, took the little prick for 58 pounds.

A fucking joke. Some spotty students pair of dogs hold up against my Kings - Games a fucking joke.

So that was "Live" poker. If Dave were playing Live Poker, word would soon spread, he's extremely well known. Yet not one poker player has ever reported seeing him in a poker room.

His language & tone is not even remotely like Dave, either. He tweets using "c**t", "retard" & "twat". Dave Compton speaks like that?

Go back to his Tweets in October 2011, & an exchange with a chap called Steve Meehan. (@steve_meehan). Steve is "wormster" on blonde. Steve worked with Dave & me for years, Steve was - is - a TV producer of horse racing & previously, poker & greyhound racing shows. They - we - all got along famously, we travelled & worked together all over the UK, Europe, Vegas, the lot, & we never had a cross word.  Steve tweeted that the account was an imposter, a troll from Betfair Forum, & Compo - or the account holder - was grossly offensive in his replies. The account disses ATR, & just sounds like some troll with an axe to grind. Why would Dave have bad blood with ATR?

I originally thought the account was genuine, & tweeted a reply, & sent him a Direct Message. He never replied, & he deleted my Tweet. He & I never had a cross word, & we share all sorts of secrets. We never had a fallout ever, even though we got into some sticky spots with his family as they never knew where he was when he went AWOL, but I did. He even rung me from Vegas at the time & thanked me for holding the line.

If that account is the real Dave, I'd be amazed.

The Twitter account is under the alias of "@_compo_" & was started in 2011, which was long after Dave went AWOL.
