There was another Paul too.

Little bald fella, very friendly.

Paul Hill maybe?

Was that the fella who mostly frequented J10, Walsall, usually with Pete the ex-safebreaker?

Paul Moss?

I always thought Paul had a right few quid.

then I was playing a tournament with hinm at the Vic. Monkey buyin maybe. And he had loads of chip with about 4 tables left.

And he started dwelling up on every damn hand, to a ridiculous extent. Just to make the money.

It was really strange as he a big chance of going really deep and exerting pressure with his stack. Instead he just wanted to guarantee a £750 payday.

Pete passed away? Not sure I knew that, though he was quite unwell last time I saw him, he was in a wheelchair & did not look so good. Paul was still looking after him, of course, as he always did.

 Very sorry to hear that.

Just checked, and to be fair to him it wasn't a £500 tournament it was £3000

Still, it was weird as he was absolutely no danger of getting knocked out he had like 3 x average when he started dwelling up.

Pete (the one I am talking about) was an incredible character, he did not say much unless pressed, but he had a wealth of stories to tell.

Bit like Gosney in a way, in that it was all under the surface, & many people did not get him.

He was - or so the story goes - a peterman, which is or was slang for a safe breaker. He retired from that game some years ago, of course. In fact, I don't even think his real name was Pete, that just came from "Peterman".

Tell you who would know - guaranteed - Lisa (sonour) & Pete.

I'll ask Lisa.

I daresay there is, but I honestly can't recall his surname.

He played Gala Notts in its glory days, too. Tom may remember.

Still in Amsterdam. We are hours (well, an hour) in front of you over here.

Contemplating playing the €750 tournament today.

Although my record of playing side events after busting the main is absolutely abject would probably just be flushing a monkey down the toilet.

Might go to the Van Gogh museum instead.

Or stay in the hotel and watch Ascot and Haydock...........
