think its a decent spot to the lead the river. reps a missed flush draw,(which it is  ), so i think you could get paid by a decent amount of hands here, especially as you described the guy as being a 'little splashy' on the table so far. Might get more by leading the river, as his calling range will be a lot wider than his range calling off a check jam

Yh in this particular spot I have quite a lot of chips so can maybe call not getting exactly the right price knowing we are getting stacks on rivers if we hit so was thinking around 5k

Do people ever lead river as a bluff? He can have a set of nines a set of Jacks and presumably on occasion a set of Aces or Kings - all of which he'll bet.

TBF his most likely hand is AQ and it puts him in a tough spot but a lead is SO unbalanced.

Think its pretty ridiculous to say a check raise is NEVER getting called and I think hes going to value bet almost everything that he's going to call the river with. Your range doesn't look that strong either so he can very easily decide to bluff river here also, potentially pretty big as well

tho so guess he was planning on bluffing with it if spades come.  Nope not last train he re-entered and bust last level of the day.

Really good pha IMO.... lovely spot for checking the river too... Playing in flow, keeps all his bluffs in, keeps in the option of the massive bluff AI from villain as you saw and particularly the right play against an aggro player like Sam.  The donk lead is way more often for value than to bluff the missed draw,, so I think we cap our potential value on the river to a call from most of his range when we lead. He's rarely going all in over our raise. So the risk of the check back I think is outweighed by the potential gains.

Even if he is winning it doesn't mean we call a jam with worse. Trying to rep missed spades I guess but who does this for 1.5x pot.
