I've now read thru the updates of the 500 and think that they were pretty good, especially considering how busy it was on the last couple of day 1s. Certainly was just as good as all of the other updates out there for the various tours.

However a Tighty blonde update just feels so much more interactive.  The banter from players and raiders plus Tighty did somehow get in a few more hands an hour than the industry standard.

Whenever I played a day 1 that Tighty was covering, I'd always read thru after play had finished and enjoy it.  In fact I don't think I missed any update thread In the last few years of any tournie that Tighty covered.

The only times I look thru updates now, regardless of the tournament, is to try and get info on other players.

DTD site must be broken? Says Simon Deadman finished 38/38 in the High Roller? Typo? Smiley

Near the end when there were 4 tables or less he was posting about once every 45minutes. This seems a lot of time to write 3 sentences.

For starters, speaking from experience, doing the closing stages of a multi-day major you are on your last legs. This would have been one of the most demanding, as they event lasted a week. I know its tough to keep output going working those hours day after day

we also do not know whether the updater/s (1? 2? i don't know how many) had other responsibilities taking them away from the action. I often did.

and biggest of all, it appears to me that these updates aren't meant to be "cover every hand possible". they are straightforward reporting major pieces of action. I don't think as such that the quantity of updates was that low at the business end, and what i read was well written.

they aren't designed to contain much humour, "banter" etc. they are corporate updates

so comparing them with what we used to do, more "stream of consciousness" type updates where we are very familiar with the players and most importantly of all have interaction to bounce off, is probably not appropriate

i know which style i prefer to read, but the updates i read last week were at the top end of the "corporate style updates" that you get, in my opinion
