Celtic definitely going out now so hopefully we can get the deal for Forster sorted before the season starts.

Need a centre back before next Sunday too - would be pleased to see Vlaar.

We have ran well with fixtures to start the new season and are going to need it. Expect us to be bringing in players right up to the wire.

VVD from celtic could be on the cards as well as forster now celtic are out of Europe, they don't need the squad to win the spl

Yea, would also look to be a good signing.

I hope we don't feel forced to squander money in the next 3 weeks. It's a risk but holding back until January or, even better, next Summer would be much better. That gives Koeman more time to establish targets and build the team he wants.

With J-Rod and the grumpy french man now staying plus the recent loanees, the squad looks reasonably capable. Add Forster and a centre back for <£20 mill and that will be fine. Save the rest for a rainy day.

I think we can add forster VVD +vlaar for<£30 million will give us a huge boost
infact I would say defensively we would be much better off than last season

pelle , tadic and taider give us more depth and from all reports we are not losing quality
they are a lot cheaper than the players we sold as they are not classed as HG
and we could still be in with a shout of getting rojo

all this and we wouldn't have spent half the money we got in and would have a much stronger squad

IF we can keep morgan and jay

My thoughts were that he would be off after Champ League qualifiers, I'm thinking talks probably started yesterday before Celtic were put back in and probably too far down the line to turn back.

Good deal all round, Celtic have had 4 good years from Forster and received a very good fee, Southampton get a very consistent keeper with his best years ahead and Forster gets his Premiership move.
Newcastle are also due 20-25% of the fee.

looks like interest in vvd and vlaar has waned but these 2 targets look quality

also been hinted and another striker and a covering RB which will give us 9 new players
a lot of extra money in back and a better squad overall even if we have lost a couple of quality players

I'm not sure about VVD in the EPL , he was outstanding for Celtic last season but everyone knows the lack of quality in our league and I think his lack of pace will be exploited. The fact he was left out of the Dutch WC squad would be a concern as he was hardly being kept out by top class players.

We should still be able to get about £10m for him though Smiley

Read a decent piece on Fraser Forster earlier

Fraser Forster had a daily routine which verged on OCD.  He rose at 6:00, ate his first meal of the da 4dy, drove to Lennoxtown (while eating six pancakes, as it happens), then worked-out in the gym.  He stopped for ‘breakfast’ with the rest of the team, his third intake of the day, before training started at 10:00.

After training the players take lunch, then head home.  Fraser stayed, back to the gym, or some specialist work with goalkeeper coach Stevie Woods, before heading home at 16:30.  He was first to arrive and last to leave, every day.

This was his routine, broken only something as rare as a dentist visit.  Every biological and fitness measurement was documented with improvements targeted.

Years ago, he decided he was going to this year’s World Cup.  The personal relationship, which took visits to London to maintain, was put on hold.  The visits interrupted the work schedule for two days, which he couldn’t afford.

How do you see your starting XI for first game of the season.

not 100% sure but the back 5 will be along the lines of

gk forster
lb Bertrand
rb clyne
crb fonte (cpt)
clb rojo or gardos

midfield will be intresting to see koemans preferred starters

schnerlin, cork, ward-prowse, wamyama, davis, rameriz from last season only lost lallana plus 2 additions in taider and tadic

with pelle replacing lambert up front

we lost 3 defenders got 2 in so far a mid got 2 in so far and a striker got 1 in so far

the players in/out haven't been at a huge cost in quality due to them not being home grown

I am optimistic about the future though it might take awhile for defence to settle
