We need a new cb desperately, we have spiders replacements but classie is injuried and Romeu is on bench, Ryan will be back soon to replace targett

Defence is a mess right now

ffs cant see spurs being able to afford him as they have already said they need to sell to buy to keep in the FFP rules

Problem is the wage bill, teams with a wage bill over £52 million can only increase it by £4 million per season or get epl sanctioned. So  we have to buy better than we have but quailty players want bigger wages and we are not allowed to spend the TV money on increasing the wages

By the time we get a new cb we will be net spenders

i cant find a link to last seasons wages but saints had the 15th biggest wage bill
pretty hard for us to compete consistently in top 10 when we are 50 million behind
in wages than spurs and 80 million behind liverpool and dispite making record profits
we cant invest in wages

we could invest some of the money in transfer fees but are not allowed to increase the wage budget to match

very strong line up for todays game bartrand on bench and could be starting at the weekend

the line up could be an indication that saints are going to take the cups seriously this season

i have to say i wasnt that keen on VVD before we signed him but thought we looked very solid today and he was the key to that
along with bertrand coming back on the left we looked defensively as good if not better than last season
