Cheers gents, first goal is to make it out intact (very lofty aspirations Smiley)

Arrived without too much fuss, bar being told that assistance was 'just over there' at Gatwick, only to find it was far enough to cause me some agg on little sleep. Still, it was a good flight, albeit one I didn't get more than a few hours sleep on, and bar a short wait for the bags it was plain sailing.

There was an elderly couple also being given assistance, who seemed to be a bit confused as to how they were getting to their hotel. I had booked a limo for myself and the other 2 guys I travelled with, so offered to drop them, off at their hotel, which turned out to be the Venetian. The journey was fun, as the lady had never been to Vegas before, and was even more excited than a child on Xmas morning.,

I did feel a bit for the driver, as he humped their cases out of the boot when we got there, and the guy never even offered him a tip. Last luggage out had to tip our driver, and I was the lucky party in that little coup...

I had booked preferred check in, so that I could ensure that I got a fridge, as well as a corner room, and the girl kindly checked the other 2 lads in as well. Bit of a touch, as there was quite a queue out at registration.

Got to the room and unpacked everything sharpish, so that all the annoying tasks were out of the way. However, our american sims happen not to work as described, so the guy who bought them is going to sort that out tomorrow.

We headed down for a bit of dinner, before popping in to the cardroom at the Nugget, to see if we knew anyone that was left. The comp was on a break, so we obviously headed down to the bar. This is the 3rd time I've stayed at the Nugget, and as such I've gotten to know a few of the staff here... Actually, that's a blatant lie, and I've gotten to know one of the barmen at the main bar in the casino.

One of the guys who was here already said to me that Kelly had been asking when/if I was coming out, and had seemed pleased to know that I was arriving this weekend. Obviously it's good for him when there are a load of brits pouring booze down their necks, but he always looks after us, and our glasses are never empty for long when we're socialising.

One of the other guys from our forum had gone deep in the 1500, before eventually getting knocked out 89th for a decent enough cash, and by 9pm there was around 10 of us at the bar drinking. We found out that the bar was closing for a refurbishment, which wasn't the best news I had heard, but Kelly then explained it would be done overnight!

Only in Vegas would a 'refurb' be done overnight, so that it was business as usual next day Cheesy

It turned into a bit of a Fremont St crawl, and although hazy, I think I got back to the room around 2. I fell asleep, only to wake up at 5am with a mouth like Ghandi's flip flop!!

A couple glasses of water solved that problem, but I'm now caught in the middle of two time zones, and my body hasn't got a scooby where I am. The objective had been to stay up until around midnight, so that I could ease myself into Vegas time smoothly. I guess half a bottle of Vodka, and 4 or 5 long island ice teas aren't too conducive to a good nights sleep...

Here anyway, and if I'm feeling alright in the morning I will donate to the Binions hilo aka 'The Tikay Benevolent Fund'.

I hadn't had a drink since I left Vegas last year, and had toyed with the idea of seeing if I could break the 1year mark, but that lasted until Kelly asked me what I wanted  Tongue

Oh well, back to the scratcher it is...

Any changes at the Nugget?
Ice bar was mooted near the pool last time I was there . . any sign?

When was the last time you were here mate?

Ice bar is located directly in front of you as you walk into the main entrance, and was here in 2012 when I stayed.

Carson Street Cafe has been split into a tequila/sports type bar, and a 'Claim Jumper' restaurant, which I think is another chain that is owned by Landrys.

Can't think of much else that's changed, or much that I've noticed.

One of the other lads has been put in the room next door to me, and I got woken up at 9am by him shouting 'Marky, Marky, are you awake?'

In a very jovial mood, on the back of lots of travelling, and a heavy drinking session, I was obviously very pleased with these developments, and my answer was something along the lines of 'I ****ing am now, aren't I!!'

Possibly a bit excessive, but the old 'knocking on the door, or shouting through it, followed by 'are you awake', has to rank pretty highly amongst irritating ways to be woken up.

The 3rd chap I am travelling with informed me when we had lunch that the same thing had happened to him, and he responded in much the same way as myself Cheesy

As he said to me, why not just text us, and if we don't reply he has the answer...

Still, no big deal, and I eventually made it over to Binions for a shot at their O8 earlier.

As you can probably guess, I'm no longer playing that, and am now mulling over dining options for this evening, and what to do after that.

Peeled a raise from the BB in a multiway pot with KQJ6 ds, and c/shoved my 20bigs on a flop of KJT with one each of my suit, after the PFR bet, and 2 other callers folded.

Not sure if it's bad, or if it's ok to call pre/pile post, but the turn was a T, and AK2T picked up the pot.

Had a look for Tikay, but couldn't spot him anywhere, so headed back to the Nugget, and the score is now 0/1 for the trip...

In for the duration, have a great trip Marky.

Do you ever go to the bar of the Italian restaurant in The Nuggett?

Very nice barman there who's kind of Italian and loves a bit of banter.

Thanks Ralph, and the trip is always great, win or lose!

I normally have lunch in the Italian a few times when I'm playing at the Nugget. I know the bar, but have never done any drinking there before, so will have to try and get the boys together for a sesion up there.

Will have to work out how to post pics up, but there hasn't been much brass about so far anyway...

Been nothing to update about over the last day or so, because I got absolutely destroyed on Tuesday night, and spent all of Wednesday hiding away to get ready for today.
T
We got the news about a 2nd 5pm flight while out, and decided that we would just come up to the Rio on Thursday for the competition 2pion.
'
Get there around 2pm, and dind out that there are more runners than the main event, and we will start playing @ 100/200 around 10pm.

Not ideal, but at least I'll have made the dinner break Cheesy
