What do people reckon about this TV debate stuff then?

Seems the TV companies are trying to have a bit too much influence on what does or doesn't happen. Reckon Cameron should take on Clown Milliband head to head though....

Maybe they should just have a standard format of debates going forward that does not change so there is no tactical decision by parties to participate in whatever debate suits them or not.

I do t really see the point of having seven party debates on TV. Nothing is going to be said that is worthwhile in the short timeframe available. The head to head is the key debate for me until another party polls at least 15% of the votes or wins 15% of the seats at a general election until they do that they have no right being in a major TV debate.  As a Tory supporter I really don't like dave not snap agreeing to this. To win an outright majority dave has to hoover up plenty of margins in England especially and by crushing red ed in a head to head TV debate seems one of the easiest ways to do this.  I really think dave is just trying to minimise the downside and happy to take another hung parliament rather than going for it balls deep like Maggie would have done.

Whichever broadcaster gets the debate with Cameron involved must surely not be stupid enough to give all 7 parties equal airtime, expecting the emphasis been on the major parties with a lot of attacking from the smaller parties

btw, been looking for this thread all yesterday...?

I'm not an avid political follower

I've never voted before as I just didn't care, they are all as bad as each other, there needs to be a revolution including the disbanding of the House of Commons and the farce that takes place there.

This year however I feel compelled to vote Conservative because Ed Milliband is such an absolute tool

I just cant get my head around anyone thinking Ed Milliband with Farage or Salmond would be anything other than an absolute disaster.

Can someone explain to me why anyone would be voting for Labour?

a business owner and entrepreneur like Stuart should not regard the tories as a "fucking disaster" lol

all the usual tribal stuff aside, the economy is in better shape now than the mess they inherited

not by their design though. dead cat bounce, innit. (and even that's IF you accept it is in better shape, btw....)

everything Osbourne and Cameron said they would do about the economy/deficit they fundamentally have failed to do.

longest sustained real terms decline in wages since records began, more debt created than any labour government in history, etc.

tribalism aside, because I'm neither Labour nor Tory, 'tribally'. I am very much anti 'ridiculously poor Chancellor of the Exchequers', though. I wouldn't let him run a bath, nevermind a country.

The economy is growing (albeit slowly) through rich people getting richer while people fall below the poverty line at a rate that is unprecedented in the UK. If they win an election for the first time in 23 years on the strength of this economy, the media machine really will have achieved something extraordinary.

+1. Why would any hard working individual ever vote for labour?  I have just had this debate with the cabbie on the way back from chelt.

I'm a pretty peaceful guy, non-confrontational by nature, but...

If this election produces any form of Labour/SNP alliance I will not be held responsible for my actions.

Because they recognise that people routinely overestimate how much of their current status is 'hard work' and how much is good old fashioned variance.
