Ian Simpson doubles up Derek Boyle, JJ v QQ all in pre

He then raises and is called by Nick Fellone otb

he leads the 5-9-J flop and is called

He bets again on the 10 turn and Fellone moves in

Simpson calls with J-10

Fellone K-J

Stands up

Q on the river to give him the straight against turned top two

He sits down

and in two fell swoops Simpson has done most of his stack

-

Meanwhile Simon Higgins raises Q-J and is called by a chap of advancing years in the big blind with a baseball cap

J-J-7 flop

very nice, and heavy action which continues on the turn

an 8 on the river and two stacks are in

Higgins loses to J-8

"i was only beating a bluff by the end" he told me as he leaves the table

Yes he is still in

I am watching the five tables. Its a frustrating game this updating. A meaty hand in progress, you write it down, and have your bon mots ready for elucidation and then someone folds on the river and there's no story

anyway Mr Zozzy has position on actionjack which is an interesting spot because Paul is opening a lot of pots from an above average stack

Jav Javed limps UTG, a move last seen in tournament poker when i was playing. Ages ago

Tommy Bingham is in the big blind

He peers at Jav with suspicion.

UTG+2 raises to 3100 at 600-1200

and Bingham, sensing his opportunity to chip hoover with comparatively little risk, makes it 10,500

Javed bristles. Hs shoulders straighten. He asks both players how many chips they have and on receiving answers declares "all in"

UTG+2 passes

Bingham passes with a wry smile

Javed shows......Aces? Kings?

no, two black queens

Barry Carter is still in

Frankly, that sentence in itself is worthy of a post

anyway, to continue

he opens to 3,000

a voluble player in the big blind who thinks Barry is "golden" and "bullet-proof" makes it 6,000 in defiance of this read

Barry calls

Suddenly am about to see years of tuition through pokerstrategy.com portals come to pass, before my own eyes

the excitement is tangible

9-10-A

Check check

5

"i'll check to you again" says Mr bolshy

Barry, checked to twice knows what he has to do, bets 5,000

"i'll call that 5,000" says mr bolshy superfluously

9 river

"check"

Barry turns to his mental manual and verbalises it

"i have a good hand but i don't want to be check raised"

(betting big at this point would be a good one Barry, write an article on that sometime)

"check" and shows A-3

i rub my eyes

the big blind rubs his eyes

A-3 is good

"told you he was golden bollocks" says the big blind

Indeed it is frustrating. I don't envy you at all.

GL Zozzy - it could be worse, he could be OOP!
