The final two should be may v leadsom.leadsom the last remaining value in the outrights. Gove is a Tory ed Miliband. Bright and wonky but shouldn't be put up in a general election

Gove's problem is his PR. It's shit. Public don't like him.

He's probably the smartest amongst them though.

The rich people's shares seem to be doing just fine. FTSE at 6,504. Up another 144 points. The 250 up 268 points.

Markets must be worried.

Market was barely hit at all to begin with. Look back 2-4 weeks and market now a fair bit higher. The £ on the other hand, dropped big again today.

I really do wonder what those LEAVE voters feel like after a week? False promises & their man turns their back on him.

I think the stereotype of the typical LEAVE voter bring less than average intelligence is true.

Immediate market reaction was a 500 point drop in FTSE 100.

I was being tongue in cheek.

Markets rising in this situation feels surprising.

If they had dropped like a stone it would have all been due to Brexit.

They rise and we can find something else to moan about.

I feel fine after a week.  I didn't vote for Boris to run the country by voting leave.  I knew there would be short term financial pain (which has arrived as expected) so no shock there.  Only thing in my life which has changed this week is the fact i won't be going to vegas next week because of the USD rate.  Everything else is as it was last week.   Will spend the money on a week in blackpool instead to boost the UK economy.  If everyone else did the same this year instead of going aboard the economy would be booming by xmas.  I am way above average intelligence as well FWIW.

Carney said interest rates will be cut, so sterling falls. With a lot of company earnings overseas the currency move is decent for earnings, short term. Hinted also at quantitative easing eg buying gilts as they did in 09 to pump money back into economy. Would still expect a marked slowdown, consumer and especially company spending freeze, but it was reassuring to hear there are a few clubs in the bag to deal with having landed in a deep bunker

Can we just put Carney in charge please.

With each day I'm happier..I do feel like the majority of MPS are self serving cretins with barely a principle.between them and the fact that they are being exposed like this means I'm absolutely loving it Keegan stylee.

These are people that can debate/ stand by calmly during periods like:

The Balkan crisis
The Arab spring and aftermath
The overthrow of regimes

They can deal calmly and quite well sometimes with the intricacies of things like the good Friday agreement.

They can calmly approach issues.like the financial crash in 2008.

They can send our soldiers and 1000s of others to their death in vainglorious pursuits etc etc ad nauseum.

But the majority of those who voted have the temerity to reject the parliamentary majority agenda and they literally go bonkers. Absolute cretins and so are the people who keep wanting to sneer at leave voters

This is fascinating stuff.

Don't think I've been this interested in politics since Spitting Image went off air.

One of the greatest news stories ever, it just keeps giving. Love reading this every morning.

If someone gets a book about it out in the Autumn, it'll sell like hot cakes.

PS - How many books will be written on the Political Summer of '16?

Wink

I have more than enough headaches already, Barry.

What a great story though. And nobody dies. Perfect.

Love learning about politics, love all the drama, but yeah, this whole shambles reaffirms my ongoing goal in life of the government having the minimum of influences on my life. God help me if a major life moment of mine is in the hands of Boris, Farage, Gove or Corbyn.

Like nirvana I feel more glorious as each day passes. I voted for equality and democracy, principles that are worth more to me than money. The more the mud-slinging continues about stupidity and ignorance from economics experts the more resolute I become. In fact I feel great pride in the courage of British people, we heard all the scare stories, the threats and the doomsday predictions and we still stood up for what we believe. That's what being British is all about and we are a truly great nation because of it. People gonna try and bully us? That's never gonna work in Britain mate.
