My personal opinion after watching first 5 games plus transfer activity is that I really like QPR and Burnley. Not at all what I thought before the season started.
Really? Both times I have seen Gray he has missed maybe 20 chances. Would love to know his conversion rate. Be interesting how he fares in a team who create barely anything (Brentford played some of the best attacking football I have seen since returning to champ in 2011). Can only think of Watford's side 2.5 years ago and Bournemouth being better in terms of chances being created.
We have had a great transfer window, one striker short of being a top 2/3 side IMO. Think we can sneak 6th place possibly.
Kayal signed January 2015 - v.v.v.good.
Fully fit Stephens now after year long injury.
Baldock now fully fit from 4 months lay off
Crofts now returned from his year long injury.
Keeping hold of Dunk, 5M bid rejected and cant even get into our first 11
Three players called up to england u21s (joint most from any side, one now pulled out with injury)
Plus additions of:
- Zamora (great bench asset)
- Hemed (3 goals so far, did good in LA liga last year, hit woodwork 3 times already so could have had more)
- Bong, helping Lua Lua look the part
- Rosenior looks like a great free transfer
- Hunemeir, captain of a relegated bundesliga side. Looks the part.
- Goldson, Shrewsbury CB turned down swansea last year, and has a great CV (player of season, PFA team of year etc)
- Murray (upgrade from march) and Elvis (1 in 3 strike rate from feyenoord first team)
- Finland international GK as back up to Stockdale. Stockdale looks like a changed man now.
Definitely now good enough for a play off push. If we had signed Vydra I would have said top 2/3.
All obviously coupled with the fact we have a manager for the first time in 3 years who has followed the previous season into the new season. This man being someone who has won two promotions from the championship before.
