I have to agree with Karibiner as this is the first one in ages I haven't tried to qualify for. Day 2 meaning a min cash made playing these viable for people all over the UK. It wasn't so bad if you could only qualify a 10BB stack as it was worth traveling to punt it because it was effectively a freeroll.

Unfortunately I think there was quite a big of overlay on these so I guess they felt the need to alter the structure. Personally, I would have rater Rob just lowered the guarantees. I hope that this was just a tester to see people's opinions but I fear the numbers could be affected in the long run if the Day 2 buyin was extended to the next GPPT season. It would be concerning to recs like me if there were scores of pros coming in to reg Day 2.

It would be very interesting to know at what level the bubble burst on Day 2. EDIT - They said lvl 24 for the cash bubble and lvl 30 for the £550 seat bubble.

It will operate similar to the October one just completed with the following improvements and promotions.

'First Fifty' - The first 50 players to make Day 2 will receive a £100 cash bonus! This is a fixed cash bonus and does not come out of the prizepool

Golden Chips - Specific Golden Chip satellites are running on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and the prize on offer for final tabling is a £5300 Million Day 2 seat

Online Day 1's start tomorrow at 9pm. Each Online Day 1 will feature a special bounty player who will have a $109 ticket on their head and what better way to start than with reigning Champion Jon Kalmar

I remember when these grands prix used to be far more of a level playing field and if you made day two you cashed or were very close.

I used to enjoy them and played in every one.

Now they're just a huge satellite-tree for the little guys to fund a mini-high-roller for those with bigger bankrolls.

Simon responded to similar feedback as follows a couple of weeks ago

""Having done 7 stadiums this year whether $250,000 guarantees or £250,000 we know these are not possible to hit without combining the bankrolls .. the %age of £550 buy ins is small compared to the masses of £85 buy ins but does represent a third of the Day 2 field and without them there is no chance of hitting the guarantee.

it is attractive to both bankrolls .. the structure and payout also has to be attractive to this player, they start with 100bb and min cash their buy in back .. the advantage to playing the £85 Day 1's is you can go through with far more than the 200,000 the £550 player starts with and you also benefit from the roll back, even if you have half the Average stack of circa 200,000 you would still have 50BB ...

also when you cash instead of the usual £330 you get £500 .. one thing is for sure some players won't like the format and others will make the most if it but without the opportunity for allowing different bankrolls to play, the big guarantees won't be on offer ..

regarding it effecting recreational players I would like to point out Andrew Jankowski one through to the £1,000,000 guaranteed WPTN from a 1 cent freeroll and went on to win the whole thing even though he was playing £1000 buy in players ""

the point about payout..it pays 10% of Unique players not total entries

the £100 cash back for the first 50 qualifiers for november is an attempt to put some money for expenses into the pockets of the early birds

I'm not bothered about the guarantee and I'm sure I'm not alone here. The guarantee is for DTD's benefit not the players'.

As stated earlier I'm not a fan of poker tournaments having more than one entry fee.

Where will it end?

How long before these offer direct entry to the final table or last three tables for £3/4/5K?

What chance do the little guys or "jockeys" as Rob likes to call them have of success with one or two bullets after this innovation?

of course the guarantee is there for the players (and of course for the venue, to promote the event)

plenty of the "little guys" do fine in this format. every big game and this weekend's grand prix qualifiers at the lowest buy in level cashed in large numbers, some final table and some have won

the extreme example you mention, eg buying in after the day 2 late reg; highly unlikely i would have thought

I'm sure a few years ago we both would have thought that buying into day two of a $109 grand prix for £550 was "highly unlikely" too.

The other thing is that as the grand prix is now a £550+1RB is should be marketed as such to avoid misleading those "jockeys" who think it's actually a $109.

There is no misleading.

the image for the GP says it as it is

try it, you'll like it. get through a day one with >200k and the lads paying £550 will be paying 6x more than you for a lower stack. Nice.

How about this one?

totally accurate.

i think that was from August for one of the stadium events, before the day 2 buy in was introduced for the event just gone this past weekend

i get you don't like it, and of course a particular event may not be for everyone, but you won't be finding any inaccuracies even if you go back through the 52 pages of this thread. everything was correct for as each event was structured
