Was 214 this morning, so should be on to hit 210 again by Chelts week, and got an appt with the sports guy on the 7th.

It has gradually gotten better this week, so will just get him to have a look at that, and my forearm which is a bit tight as well.

Matt is gonna be on 8 plates before the year is out!

Nice nice nice with the weight loss.

Matt is certainly on the cards for 180.

My main aim is 195 for Vegas, but I want to get back to 210 before Cheltenham, as I'll probably be bingeing in depression after knocking it in Cheesy

He's a savage, and I'm looking forward to seeing you lumps in action at some point!

Gonna have to wait a long time to see me match Matt on a bench press. I think he will fly past my DL too.

Does weight help/affect with the symptoms of MS?

Gonna have to wait a long time to see me hit 180 too, don't know where you boys have got that number from....

To be honest I'd be amazed if 180 ever happened, 160kg is a nice realistic target over the next few years and maybe 140kg for 5 at some point but 180 is an entirely different animal.

At my current rate of progress on DL I should be at 200 by the middle of the year. Pretty sure I could squeeze out 200 now if my life depended on it but it wouldn't be a pretty rep.

You're both still in the small minority with your weights, though.

I feel better, but my mobility is still getting worse, even though I'm almost 5 stone lighter, lol.

I've got a chair for whenever I go to hospitals now. I only use my crutches for the gym, because I can park right outside the door, and they have a sofa to sit down for a minute in the lobby.

True about the weights. There aren't many people out there who can move 100kg+ on the bench but because we watch lots of beasts on youtube it still makes us feel a bit weak because we can't 1.5x our bodyweight.

Do you think you've lost leg strength with being lighter? Is it possible that just day to day moving about works your legs less now so that's affecting your muscles?

Yeah, I watch lots of the fitness vloggers, and some of them shift some nasty weights about, even though they're <180lbs.

I don't think I've lost strength, as I'm able to do more lifting, but the spasticity/neuropathy is worse. I develop clonus very quickly in my legs and feet, too.

Cheeky little PR last night on the deadlift.

Did triples up to 140 then singles at 160, 170 and then a 175 for the PR.

Although it's only a little PR I'm actually really pleased as I was feeling shit and not one set felt good. My hip was a bit tweaky, I was tired, I was in a bad mood because my boiler broke down earlier and to be honest I really couldn't be arsed. Was so close to not going but I'm glad I did.

Given all those excuses still making a new best is pretty incredible so I'm assuming that if I'd been feeling on top form more would've been on the cards.

Road to 200 is looking good.

Solid bench session today

2 x 4 @ 100kg
4 x 4 @ 105kg
3 x 3 @ 120kg with the slingshot

All slightly heavier than the programme requires but still well within limits having a rep or two in the tank every set. There wasn't a bench available straight away so this was after incline for a few triples at 110kg as well.

Gets heavier next week but the volume drops massively. 3 x 2 @ 115kg and 3 x 1 @ 122.5kg with the slingshot is the programme. Think I'll be targeting 120kg for the normal and then 130 minimum for the slingshot but will see how I feel.

Shoulder and arm are still sore but clearly not affecting me at all with pressing so not a problem. It's getting better every day so hopefully it'll be 100% by max attempt day in two weeks.

Feeling really confident for a max attempt as things stand. Moving more weight than when I hit a 140kg, slightly less than when I hit 145kg but I feel I could do more.

Gonna be interesting.

Went well on the bench again yesterday with everything above target.

3 x 2 @ 120kg
130, 135, 140kg singles with the slingshot

Just had one dodgy rep in amongst that little lot but it was just my bar path that fooked it so not a problem as every other one felt solid and moved quickly.

I'm only slightly lighter on everything than when I last tested which was back in August, I don't think I was doing paused reps back then though so I'm probably a bit stronger this time. I think I'm also weighing in about half a stone heavier so no excuses come next week.

5x5 100kg squats with decent depth Smiley Smiley so happy with that!

It's actually one of my NY resolutions which I've ticked off in March, fair play I set the bar a little low Cheesy

Excellent work mate, really pleased for you on these. I'm a big fan of setting attainable goals, it's much better to hit a goal 9 months early than to realise with 9 months to go there's no way you're going to manage to achieve what you'd set out to do.

How are all your other lifts coming on? Are you seeing a proportional increase in your deadlift whilst your squat is improving?

I don't mind the low targets as much. Depends where you are at, you seem quite sporadic so I think you should set the bar low and build momentum. If you are a Matt and pretty consistent, you can really go for those higher end aims. Wins are wins.

Niiiiice benching from Matt lately. and the DL.

Speed and pause DLs last week for me, feeling pretty good to be honest.

Going in today with the thought process of some heavier squats but will see how I feel, three really sedentary days makes me feel very achey so will have to see where I am at when I am in there. If not will do some pauses with some volume.

Feel pretty good about being flexible with training lately. Just looking to make progress across the board with tension still as opposed to weight, but definitely feel things moving quicker/smoother/easier than it has over the last few months. Very pleasing.
