The WSOP gets underway today at 7pm our time with Event 1, the traditional casino employees event before for most players the fun and games start with Event 2

Event 2 is the $7m GTD Colossus 2

Six starting flights, with re-entry

$1m to the winner

$565 buy in

any guesses as to the possible number of entries in that?

while i am here, a few of you might have heard of Staker. I can see a few familiar names playing it

I have a very small role in it quite recently, declaring an interest.

free to play, pick players for a nominated event, leaderboard prizes per event and overall

a nice concept, fantasy staking in effect.

A couple of people I know are taking the over on 30,000 for The Colossus. Apparently the WSOP projected 11,500 last year and got 22,374. It's going to be bigger this year. Much bigger.

So the WSOP is underway

731 players in event 1 the casino employees, this compares to 688 last year

23 players remain and it was a pleasant surprise to see a Union Jack in the list of chip counts

Kerryjane Craigie, who is the Manager of the London Hippodrome card-room, sitting 2nd overnight and in the hunt for the $75,000 first prize. Nothing like starting the series with a bang, hopefully

I clicked the bars at the top to look around and it accessed my Facebook profile.  Suggest this needs sorting pretty sharpish, as at no stage have I given permission for this.

Facebook is quite sneaky.  If you just leave it, you are still logged on and if you click on anything like that link it will act like you were still on FB.  I delete their cookie when I leave and when I clicked the link it just took me to a FB login screen.

Thanks Tighty, in fact there are a whole bunch of articles there.

They are not aimed at the poker serious, not at all, they are squarely targeted at the poker curious, & sports bettors who may be tempted to try poker.  They are crammed with SEO rich keywords, too, as it's really just a SEO exercise.

Having said that, if anyone is really bored, here's the full list of pieces.

I will be blogging a lot from Vegas for Next Door too, & if anyone is interested, I'll post links. Penny a click, it all adds up.......

i reported this all through and Des spoke to the developers. (there's no intention to access friends lists or post on profiles etc or share to your friends) i believe the only info the game receives is name and email address

the reply came that it will only ask for permissions the first time you log in to Staker via Facebook.

Furthermore If you want to test it from a blank slate you can go to your Facebook settings, then Apps to see which apps your are registered with and what permissions they have. If you remove that and try to log back in to Staker it should ask you to confirm the permissions again.

I know why it's done, but I hate sites that require you to sign-in through Facebook. I simply won't use them, Staker and the WSOP.com live updates are two recent examples.

WSOP.com can also sign in through google. Set up a dummy account for this. Its what I do!

KerryJane Craigie - who runs The Hippodrome cardroom - has made the final table of the employees event. Gl to her, hopefully she wins the first British bracelet of the series.
