This is my biggest concern - a millionaire British athlete who doesn't want to live here. Really trivialises the real issue - I do hope Mo manages to get back into the states -I has a feeling he will and then I guess we can all see that there is no problem at all now Mo's OK

Perhaps you can suggest where he can do warm high altitude training in the U.K.

tbf, that's missing the point I think, narrowing it down to him or Nadhin whatshisname or any other privileged individual trivialises the real harm done by acts such as Trumpies. I also don't really give a rats arse where Mo Farah or any other British athlete train. It says nothing to me about my life or things of concern to me.

Was always so obv that both Mo and Nads were always gonna be allowed into the US. Refugees a far bigger issue imo and kinda ends up ranking below the moaning millionaires, at least from a headlines point of view

Why doesn't Mo bring his family back to the UK whilst Trump's order continues to be enforced? Surely that would be the biggest statement he could make?

Also everybody on this thread saying how bad this ban is, will you be cancelling you Vegas trips or boycotting US goods for example? Will it change anything for you whatsoever other than what you're currently debating on social media?

I can't believe how passive all of the moaning is, and make no mistake, without any action that's all it is, moaning. Wouldn't it be a great statement to the US if half empty 747s started turning up from the UK? UK citizens showing solidarity with our Muslim compatriots. Shame it won't happen but it's a nice thought.

It's only week 2. The response, protests and shows of support already seen have been pretty heartwarming tbh. We'll see more decisive action if Trump tries to push even further i'm sure. Be bad if he gets a bullet in his head though, imo.

More thoughts along the lines of 'Trump/Bannon is testing the waters to see how compliant people are'

There are so many stories about what the WH is doing that it is impossible to keep up. Two items in today's news have really made me sit up, though:

- Trump has had a major row with Malcolm Turnbull, cutting the call after 25 minutes, instead of the planned hour that other leaders have had. Of all countries, who would have thought that Australia would be the first he would fall out with?

- In a call with the Mexican President, he offered/threatened to send the US Army into Mexico to tackle the drug gangs. 'According to reports that were apparently based on a leaked White House document, the US President told Peña Nieto: “You have a bunch of bad hombres down there. You aren’t doing enough to stop them. I think your military is scared. Our military isn’t, so I just might send them down to take care of it.” '

it's pretty unreasonable to not think this has been the policy all along.

at least Flynn is rational and grounded in logic and fact based.... oh wait who are we kidding. RIP world.

The Senate confirmation hearings for the new Cabinet have really torn some of them apart. The Democrats are doing a good job of exposing the massive shortcomings of many of the nominees.

- Sessions, Tillerson, Price, Pruitt, Mnuchin, DeVos and Pompeo have all been given a rough time.

- Haley, Chao, Mattis and Kelly were viewed as highly appropriate nominees and were quickly approved, almost by acclamation. Carson, Perry, Ross and Zinke also seemed to sail through relatively unscathed, though they still had to field some tough questions, climate change being a recurring theme.

- Puzder, Perdue, Mulvaney and Shulkin have yet to be examined, but only Puzder and Mulvaney are expected to be given a difficult time.

The big news is that two Republican Senators have announced that they will not support DeVos, which means the full Senate vote will be a tie and will be decided by the Vice President's casting vote (for the first time ever). However, if Sessions is confirmed before that vote, he would not be eligible to take part and she will fall. The likelihood is that Mitch McConnell has the scheduling controlled to ensure this doesn't happen. Now that two have broken cover, others may follow, with Sessions now the most vulnerable nominee.

One light moment from the hearings. You remember Rick Perry from the start of this thread, who couldn't remember the third Department he wanted to abolish? It was the Dept of Energy. Now he is nominated for a Cabinet role, as Secretary of...........the Dept of Energy. Inspired choice. At his hearing, he gave us yet another of his foot-in-mouth moments:

Alex Jones was on Joe Rogan last night, and they talked a fair bit about politics.

I've only ever seen him going mental with Piers Morgan, and some other rants, but Rogan always says that he's a good guy when people ask him.

He got a bit crazy last night, but I think it helped having Rogan about to pull him when he made claims, and ask him to explain/validate them.

Was quite disturbing some of the stuff they got into, and I think some of the later stuff required alcohol to follow Cheesy
