Mueller's report is in!

Now we wait to see how much is released.

Don't expect anything significantly damaging to Trump - the main danger of that is in the New York investigations.

For once, the Trump team is organised and prepared. Apparently, in a joint operation between the White House, the re-election committee and the Republican leadership, they have several contingency positions prepared, depending on what is in the report. The President himself seems likely not to be directly in the firing line, but it could be that some people close to him are implicated.

Plenty are taking the view that, if there was anything else significant, there would have been further prosecutions before conclusion, so they are celebrating on Fox News and elsewhere. The President’s people, though, are keeping unusually quiet for now, and have managed to keep him pretty buttoned-up too, until it is known what the report says. Once that is known, expect a lot of spin from them. It’s a strange situation - they are all set to blast the airwaves with their prepared position, but they don’t yet know which of the prepared positions that will be.

Sure the donald will let us know what's going on, once they let him have his Twitter back Grin

Another example of 'Why would anyone work for Donald Trump?' this week.

Betsy DeVos was grilled for three days, with a lot of attention (and most of the headlines) focusing on the elimination of funding for the Special Olympics from the Education Dept's proposed budget. Now, Betsy may be a nasty private education advocate and blatantly incompetent at her job, but she has been a supporter of the Special Olympics, actually donating part of her salary to it, on top of previous donations, and met with their athletes during her first week in office. It emerged in the questioning that she had not initiated the cut and it has since become clear that the Education Dept submitted its budget three times with the Special Olympics included, but this funding was removed each time by the Office of Management & Budget. It's a clear indication of how powerful OMB is in comparison with spending Depts, and the status of its Director, Mick Mulvaney, compared with a Dept Secretary. If you want to know who is the most powerful person in Washington, other than the President, Mulvaney would be a strong contender. He is not only Director of the OMB, but has also been acting White House Chief of Staff since the beginning of the year.

So, Betsy had no option but to go along with it and defend the cut. She spoke about how they had to make hard decisions and not every worthy cause could be funded.

Then, on Thursday, after her ordeal was over, this happened:

That was kinda mean. He could have shared the credit for the funding, but took it all for himself. So Betsy takes one for the team in the hearings, and gets publicly humiliated in return.

Hard to feel sorry for her, but what a firm to be mobbed up with.

Would anyone notice if someone wrote a spoof April Fool piece about Trump?

The crazy times continue in Washington. The Attorney General of the United States will be held in contempt of Congress if he doesn't provide the unredacted Mueller Report to the House Judiciary Committee by 9am on Monday.

After a rough time on Wednesday from Democrats on the Senate Committee, offset by support by Republicans, including Chairman Lindsey Graham, William Barr was expected to be given a much worse ride by the House Committee on Thursday, where Democrats have the majority. So he didn't come. The Dept of Justice, headed by Barr, also replied to say that it will ignore the Committee's subpoena for the unredacted report and the underlying evidence. Where this leaves us - no-one knows.

I grudgingly respect Shapiro (his seemingly genuine desire for all opinions to be heard), I disagree with him about nearly everything though. Brillo is a sad clown and a recovering (regularly relapsing) Murdoch attack dog. It’s surprising that Shapiro was (apparently) blindsided by AN being so aggressive.
