I've just arrived to lend a hand. Suffice to say it is standing room only here and that's only if you're...errr...

Good call, Lionel. It is that busy.

First level done. Who reckons they have the biggest stack in the room?

I'll give you an idea of what I can see, then, for those of you who can't be here.

Tighty, I and the Sky Poker brigade are up in the far left corner, as you see it from when you walk in, and pretty much everything else, apart from the roulette wheels, the smoking shelter and the bars is occupied by poker tables. As with any other poker comp, the crickets are in force (that persistent chirupping of chips being riffled we have come to know and tolerate) but the table chatter seems to be lower in volume than normal. For many here, this will be one of their biggest ever tournaments and it's understandable that they'll be concentrating hard on what is in front of them.

There's a faint, incidental radio over the speakers. As the afternoon progresses, I reserve the right to occupy time telling you who's playing.

Those of you here, pipe up and tell us what's going on where you are, please.

And good luck to everyone playing.

Table 52, seems some dick swinging could be happening. Q3 has been three bet twice and won at showdown! Not by me unfortunately

14,4 but hurry up as I'm doing my upmost to lose all my chips and be first out.

I was over in a flash. Ish.

With the button in seat 6, I saw the following hand.

Seat 9 (I don't have a name, but he dashed back to his seat in time to receive his cards) opens to 350. This is 3bet by Shaun McCarthy to 1,200 in seat 2. Seat 5 (David Hamlyn) calls with speed, not fearing recriminations from the UTG opener, who duly obliges by making it three to the flop.

UTG checks. McCarthy, continues his story with a bet of 5,675. This is called by Hamlyn and UTG folds.

 Two Clubs

McCarthy fires again. Two 5k chips are evacuated from the diminishing ammo store. Hamlyn shows no fear again. Call.

River

Check check on the end.

AK McCarthy. No good, sir.

AA for Hamlyn.

Nice pot to win. Didn't fancy the bet on the end. Understandable, this early on.

Natalie Bromley-Folds has been over to say hello in the break. That's Dingle Belle to blondites.

Jeff "Jaffa Cake" Kimber has north of 60k after a steady start.

Verndog has a crucial baseball cap on. When I saw him wearing it in Vegas, I assumed it was he was just doing that British thing of wearing daft clothing to inform everyone he was part of the noble Empire. You know the sort...

Turns out it's for keeps. Must be the lucky hat. Must be.

John Gale has got an early double up

He called a raise in mid position and the big blind 3 bet

both players called

two spades flop

The 3 bettor lead and both called

on the turn

the pre-flop 3 bettor now checks

The orginial raiser makes it 4200

Gale shoves all in

and the big blind check cold calls the shove

the turn bettor gets out of the way

Gale flips Kspades for turned two pair

the big blind stands up, punches the air and flips

is then told he is behind

He sits down

on the river for Gale to double

Tal - can we have a fashion update please?

Any particularly striking outfits or interesting hats in the room?
